Right now she is on my lap (in front of the laptop) with her head draped across my arm, asleep.

I'm kind of lucky. Two of my guys, Winston and Reilly are really not lap dogs. They would very much prefer NOT to be touching me when they are sleeping, thank you very much. In fact, I get the stink eye when I wake them up to pet them. Murphy is my lap dog for sure. Millie's still too young to know for sure yet, but she's glued to me right now-she was NOT happy when I left this morning to go to work for the first time since I got her. Even the cookie was no consolation.
