Have you been asked to evacuate? Please check in and let us know !
I'm not in Gustav's path this time;but when Hurrican Dennis hit my family was on a cruise and was near Dennis. Our first stop was Montego Bay Jamaica and the next one was supposed to be the Grand Cayman Islands and because of the hurricane we headed straight to Cozumel Mexico. We was supposed to get back to New Orleans on a Sunday and had to stay out until Monday. It was sort of scary.
How are things going in Texas Barb? I know Florida had it rough....Terri, how are you? Anyone else feeling the effects from Gustav? Now we have to worry about Hanna and some others out there.....Please check in everybody down South. Mimismomma's grandparents live in New Orleans. They were supposed to go to Maryland where it is safe...but as of yet, Mel has not heard from them. Please check in with us Mel when you know your grandparents are safe!!!
We are fine in Texas where I am.... not sure at this point of any of Texas will get anything. Scary that Hanna is rolling on this way. Hope everyone checks in !
I just heard from my uncle via email. He just said that my Grandparents heard from their neighbor and their house is fine, not even a twig down they said. No flooding either. But he didn't tell me where they were. I don't know if they made it to Maryland or not yet or if they are even going to turn around and go back now. I have been watching most of the day the news reports on the Directv Hurricane channel. Doesn't look as though they got the flooding like last time. Great news. And of course most people got out of there this time. They seemed very prepared. I have a trip scheduled to go see them at the end of October so I will get a first hand glimpse of the aftermath. My father told me that as of this past winter it still looked like a war zone in a lot of places. This storm didn't help much at all with that effort of clean up.
Hope everyone else is OK. Will be praying for everyone in the south!!
Dis is Buelah portin in on behalf of my family. We are all just fine here.. although I must say dat going out to do my business was a little hard on Sunday. We gots some BIG WINDS! AND it rained ALL day so mama came outside with dat umbrella with us. She said she was worried dat we was gonna end up in Kansas and get renamed Toto.
DEN... just when we thought it was gonna be a nice quiet day to snuggle up on da couch wif mama and da recliner wif daddy......THEY GAVE US BAFFS! Can you BELIEVE the NERVE? Yep...on da HOLIDAY weekend dey gave us da BAFF. I am sure dat all of you puppers would agree dat a holiday weekend should NEVER involve dat sort of torture.
Anyway...we are all safe and sound (and clean) and we are watching and ready for da next windy storm.
A friend of mine lives in St John the Baptist Parish, 20 miles from New Orleans and when I heard from her on Saturday they were staying put. She said that the gridlock was too bad to even leave their area. I checked up on the area via the Internet and from what I can tell they are OK only some areas had lost power. Thank goodness it wasn't worse.

I was wondering about the Texas gang since, at one time, Gustov looked like it would head that way. We are going to brace for Hanna here in SC. I'm just hoping she stays a category one. We could use the rain, but not the damage. We were talking at work today that some of the hurricanes that have been most dangerous for S.C. have started with H-Hazel and Hugo. We are praying that Hanna doesn't keep the pattern going!
