Chippy's (AKA Chip-Chip, AKA Chocolate Chip) story is a bit hard to pin down, but the basics are this. His original owners had to move and could not take him with them, so they gave him to someone else. The someone else disappeared and left Chippy with his wife, who bless her heart knew Chippy deserved better. She tried taking care of him, but he is not neutered, and is a leg-hiking pee machine, so she couldn't have him in the house. He has spent many months (maybe up to a year) "out back" in a 6x6 dog run. He was fed everyday, but that was about it. So, now he is here with my gang. He is scheduled to be vetted on Thursday - a neuter, teeth cleaning, shots, heartworm test, etc - I am really hoping he does not have heartworms. He has not been on preventative for quite some time, if he ever was. He is a very sweet, happy, personable little guy. I've got him wearing a belly band when we are inside and he is also under constant supervision. He is happy to snooze in a crate in the living room, when I can't watch him like a hawk, and the other dogs are being good examples for him. I think once he is vetted he will make quick progress. I am optimistic he will be able to have a good life in a forever home!

I, too, have stopped fostering.  However, that little sad face would have changed my mind.  Hope he finds his forever home quickly.  Thanks for giving him the love and attention he needs.

He's beautiful-and that picture!-the little piece of grass near his eye makes him look like he's crying.

I just took in a foster on Friday.  I should post him too, just in case anyone is looking for a chubby red smooth standard  :2funny:

Awwww....what a sweet boy.   Hard to believe so many people regard puppers as disposable.  He'll make a great pupper for a deserving family in a forever home.

I've been considering fostering a few doxies myself.

It would be a fitting memorial for my beloved Simon.  I miss that dog.

Well, old pal, after you passed I had to find Lucy someone to boss around so I got Mr. Wilson from DRNA. Turns out, he ain't putting up with any of Ms. Lucy's fluff. In fact he steals her toys for change, Ain't that a switch! I told ya before you passed that no other dog could fill your "shoes" and it's true, but he's trying hard to do just that. I gotta give him an "A" for effort.

In all honesty, I think I can only afford to "keep" two dogs. What with vet bills being what they are...but I can rescue, vet and re-home a few dachshunds to help the cause. I'm not sure how much thats going to hurt, after the lady inspected our home and left Mr. Wilson she was crying as she left.

I still send her e-mails and photos of Mr. Wilson, just to let her know he's safe and happy.

Besides, I already have a leg-lifting pee machine (even with the doggie door) and one is enough

Bless you for taking in this little pup.  You are truly an angel. I hope all goes well with his vet visits.   :xfinger: Keep us posted on his progress.
