Title: Email I received from Eileen
Post by: PattyInAK on September 30, 2005, 12:23:54 PM
Hi Patty.  I got back from my conference and on Saturday, I was going into the kitchen with Kleine in my arms and I tripped over the gate and because I couldn't use my arms to brace myself and didn't want to drop Kleine, I fell with all my weight on my left leg, my ankle buckled under my leg and I fractured my ankle in three places.  Do you believe this nightmare?  I have never hurt myself this badly in my life.  My firefighters, paramedics, everybody came.  I was afraid to look at my ankle because I was sure a bone had come through.  No bone coming through, but my ankle looked really, really bad.  Kleine was fine as I had cradled her in my arms during the fall.  They ambulanced me to Denver to the trauma center and they took me into emergency surgery.  I now have a plate and about six or seven screws holding my ankle onto my leg.  The pain is unbelievable.  I was able to come home Monday.  Kleine is doing good.  She is walking, although her back is arched, but she is much better.  It is really hard trying to negotiate around the house with a walker and crutches and not tramp on everyone, but I am managing.  I can't believe this happened to me.  I feel that I am cursed.  You can post for me so that everyone knows at least Kleine is doing better.  I guess you can say that I really "took the fall" for her.  I hope my typing is ok, because I am full of drugs.  I got a letter from the surgeon to get my ski pass money back and I am going to try to go into work tomorrow for a couple of hours so at least I can get the payroll done.  Will write again.....Eileen
