Title: Madison Itch Update
Post by: Madderoos Mom on August 09, 2008, 01:30:51 PM
We got the allergy test back.  Dustmites seem to be the main culprit, although I still think the pollens are wicked this year and that is a contributing factor.  Dustimite do die off in cooler weather, so I'm waiting for Fall.  Also, doc said she is highly allergic to fleas.  I have not seen ONE flea on her, so they must be jumping on, having a Maddie lunch and then jumping off.  Of course, allergy shots were prescribed.  At $200.00 a pop, that's just not an option right now.  So, I've done some research on homeopathic alternatives and came upon this product called Skin-Eze.  It's all natural, with the complete ingredient list open to anyone.  I've ordered the tabs and shampoo and will let you know how the Roo does with them.  She is awful with her itching right now and is wearing the lampshade most of the time.  She still is on the steroids but they don't seem to be doing much.  Anyway, hoping this new remedy works.

A home made all bug repellent is as follows:
1. Big Fat Lemon with a thick rind slice paper thin.
2. 1 Tablespoon fresh or Rosemary leaves crushed
3. if dry skin add 1 teaspoon of TeaTree Oil and a Tablespoon of Aloe pulp.
4. 1 quart of water heated to almost boiling add ingredients and let set overnight strain into a spray bottle
Spray at least twice a week to keep the scent on the coat.
Will help keep the coat shinny, good for flies, mosquitoes & fleas.
People can use it too if going into the woods.
SHAKE WELL KEEP IN Refigerator
