Title: Greenacres Checkin In This Morning.....And What a Morning!!
Post by: DeeanDave on August 08, 2008, 12:08:26 PM
Okay, we are checking in and what a morning it has been!  I had to cancel Sarge's appointment last night due to my migraine....however, he is walking and doing his normal stuff as if nothing happened.  Last night, he had the look that said, "Oh wait, I am suppose to be limping and acting sick.....oops, I forgot so for Mom's benefit, here goes."  By evening you can tell he is still a bit sore but his walk is normal and so is his gait--he saunters and takes his dear sweet time.  If he starts acting like he is hurting again, I'll get him in.

Duggie, on the other hand, has had a rough morning, you could say.  He was doing his I'm tipsy walk so this morning at 7:30, I called the vet's office and got him an appointment for 8:40 this morning.  We go in....his right ear is a-okay; his left ear.....had some dirt deep in and was a little swollen with an infection.....The doctor reached in with a little tool and pulled out a small chunk of dirt.  Duggie was not a happy camper with that little trick!  So medicine for the ear has been prescribed -- twice a day for five days.  After this procedure, he attempted to hide his entire body under my armpit!  So, we paid the bill and off to home we go!  We get home, both boys go outside.....Sarge does his thing (great, good boy) and off to the back door he goes, ready to go in.  Duggie is doing his "Chores" under the peach tree, he p**ps and then he is peeing.....and sits down real quick.....I am supervising (no privacy for my boys) and there is his leg and a bee......he got stung on the left foot/leg area.  I picked him up and in the house we go.....he is licking like mad, his little leg is shaking and he has this look like what was that!  So, I call the vet's office and it's back to see Dr. Kevin again.....not even an hour had passed by!  Dr. checked for a stinger, could not find one, and Duggie got a steroid shot in the butt.  Now, we are home......all of us are exhausted.

So, I'm thinking it's naptime....the furkids are already down!  I need to go do some grocery shopping and then me thinks that I will come home and take a nap.

Thanks for all the rays -- they most certainly have power and help!  Dee

OMG, poor Duggie.  He simply cannot get a break.  That nasty bee just had to sting him.  I agree that naps are in order after a morning like that.  Rays will still be heading your way - as a prevention measure.

So glad Sargey is feeling better.  We need our military leaders to be in good health.

Hugs to All.

Good grief Charlie Brown!!!  Will it never end????  Thank goodness things are still going well for Sarge and you got Duggie back to the vet as fast as you did.  Glad the tipsyness is due to an ear infection (the lesser of two evils) and not anything more serious.  Now...do you think you can wrap both boys in bubble wrap through the week-end????????

Where is that big fish of Mikes?? We need a bigger one here!

That is unreal Dee!!! Your quota has to be met by now, things just have to level out for you guys. Yes I second that, you do deserve a nap! Is your headache better then today? At least Sarge is ok now, we just have to focus rays onto you and Duggie...hang in there and no more trips to the vet!

Karen did that really happen to you???

Karen did that really happen to you???

Yes, ma'am.  Yesterday morning I went out early to -grrrrrrrrrrr- mow the lawn; that strip between the sidewalk and the curb in front of the house.  I have a nice little push mower.  I was pushing through the 18-inch high grass and weeds ("Karen, doesn't your 18-year-old son D'Niel live with you?"  "Grrrrrrrrrrrr. . . .!") when I suddenly felt something stinging my right shoulder blade.  I ran - o.k. waddled - into the house and stripped down in the bathroom.  TWO WASPS flew out of my housedress! I used the housedress to cover them and smashed them both, but by then my shoulder was red and swelling.  There are at least three separate bites.  So I am feeling lousy and later that afternoon I lost my balance twice; the first time was about 1/2 hour later and the second time was about 3 hours later.

So - today I am staying home and taking it slow.  My knee hurts where I smacked it into the floor.  My son has been banned from the house, since he hasn't been taking his medication.  (I told him, "You have five sisters who all live in town.  Go spend a month with each of them and maybe after five months, you'll have come to your senses.")

And now, I've earned this nap, I deserve this nap, and NOBODY IS GOING TO DEPRIVE ME OF IT!!

OMG Dee - TOO much !!!  Don't worry about groceries.... order a pizza !!!!  and have a glass of wine.  Hope both boys are doing ok this late in the afternoon.

(My Brandy gets stuff in her ears way down deep too and they use that little hook tool to get it out - yuck !!!  Too funny - she hides under my armpit too !!!)

Hang in there mom and take a nap !

Wow! What are the odds of that happening? Glad everything was minor. Poor Duggie. I hope he's feeling better now. I've learned to have a new respect for those things called ears. Ron was diagnosed with Menier's Disease - basically, flluid in the inner ear - and what a life altering disease it is. You wouldn't think something that benign sounding would have symptoms like tinnitus, dizzy spells, and deafness. And worst of all, no cure. So, you can imagine where my mind went when you mentioned that Duggie was walking like he was dizzy. Good to hear a cleaning, ear drops and good as new!

Thanks all -- I still have the headache and did go grocery shopping.  I left shortly after I got back with Duggie and the first posting.  Duggie went from one window to the next, pacing, until I got home.  Dave said he wouldn't sit or lay down. A bit of anxiety...where did Mom go????? When I got home, it was like he was on something -- pacing, with a tipsy walk.  I sat down and he came up on my lap -- after massaging him, he finally calmed down and slept a little.  He still walks tipsy, we're waiting for the medication to really kick in.  Poor little guy, with the steroid shot for the bee sting, he drinks more and has to pee but he won't squat so when he lifts his left leg, he kinda tips over.  He got smart this afternoon.....he used the brick step to prop on and pee.....it's only 3-4 inches high.  But, it works for him.

Things have got to get better for us!  This has been a rough couple of days!  Dee

Hope everyone is doing better now rays & hugs from us in Oklahoma feel for you about your son wish I knew the idiot that passed that law years ago that people did not have to take their medication unless they wanted too. Before that law went into effect things were much better for the patients and their families most likely a pencil pusher with nothing to do except ruin peoples lives.

Oh no!  Poor Duggie!  Oh no!  Poor MOM and DAD!  I think the Green Acres boys have given mom and dad just about enough gray hairs for one week!  It's no wonder you had a migraine Dee!  I hope it's better.  I get them from time to time and they knock me for about two or three days.  Horrible.  Rays heading your way from steamy Tampa Bay....  Hugs to ALL of you.!

Guys take it easy on your mom and dad.
