The first picture is Winston in March with his explosion of fuzz fur. The second and third pictures are a few days ago. I used a Hauptner stripping knife in the manner described by this show breeder's tutorial http://www.magnoliadachshunds.com/Grooming.html and what a difference! I'm really pleased with the results and the stripping knife wasn't expensive at all. I also picked up a pair of sheers to trim up both my longhairs feetsies and that was easy as well. I took them to the groomers this spring (where Winston had his "shaving incident", but it's growing back out nicely) to learn how to trim up the feet before I did it myself.

He looks very cute either way! He is a spitting image of Gretchen! His markings and texture and length of his coat are just like hers. I'll have to post a picture of her in the same pose so you can see. How old is he?
