And an update on her papa who about needed mouth to mouth when the KaChing came.
We....er...I chose to have Maddie checked for allergies today. Doc says she DOES have a yeast infection and DOES have something else going on, but we're not sure what that SOMETHING is. We could have just treated with meds but he highly encouraged allergy testing. Well, I want to see my baby well, so of course I said "yes". So they took my Madderoo into the lab where the vampires took da blood and will send it off to the big allergy lab. We will have results in about 3 weeks. All total with meds and tests...
$530.00. The prednosone shot she got isn't working as well as I thought it did last time, but she finally calmed down and is sleeping now. Whew! It's been a stressful day because DH is having sputter-attacks with the amount of $ I dropped in 1/2 hr. Even if we do find out she is allergic to something weird, like the carpet, I don't know if I truly can afford the injections of 200 a pop. I am rather down today. Just hope things get better for the Roo and the meds are all she needs to give her body time to heal and get back to normal.
Thanks for thinking of us.
You did the right thing Sandi! This will tell you the most for sure about what is going on with her. I remember Hallie's initial test being $600 and the shots aren't so bad in time, you work your way up to 3 weeks apart, Hallie's vial of serum is about $169 but they last her several months now. So you and Mark hang in there the cost will spread itself out over time and I'll bet you will see a big difference in Madderoo!
Well, first of all, papa has come around to our side. These mens. Sometimes it just takes awhile for it all to sink in. We had good communication yesterday and he agrees that it's best that we know the cause of all this, hopefully through the allergy testing.
IN THE MEANTIME...
I finally got a halfway decent nights sleep on Sunday and so did the Roo. The meds are working but as soon as they wear off, she's at it again. I just don't understand it. She was perfectly fine 10 days ago and nothing has changed. The only thing I can figure is that we had our carpet cleaned, but we've done that before with the same company. It never bothered her before. Summer itch? Well, it hasn't been that hot here but maybe there's pollen that's bothering her.
I am looking into homeopathic remedies and read about epsom salts and that soaking in it for 10 mintues can help. I found ours but...ahem....it expired in 1987. I'll get some fresh stuff this week. Does it really expire? I have given her two soaks but it hasn't done a thing. Maybe fresh salt would help.
If anyone has ideas for homeopathic remedies, please do tell. I found something on the net called Skin-Eze. Anyone hear of it?
Please, if you can, send a few rays to my poor baby. These days, if she's not scratching....or trying to, as we have the cone of doom on her....she's drugged out of her ever lovin' mind. Not having a good time.
Many prayers and rays to the Roo....the itchies are never never fun!!! I can remember as a kid my mom soaking me in Epsom Salts. From what I remember, they worked. Not sure if they expire or not but I would definitely get a new box and try it....couldn't hurt. I wish I could help you with suggestions but I have not had to deal with anything like this. Good luck and again, many prayers and rays to the Roo to feel lots better!!!!
Don't worry about the epsom salts AKA magnesium Sulphate hepta hydrate (MgSO4.7H2O)it does not go off for what you are doing with it, I think bicarb soda does the smae thing. We used to put knee highs on Emma and tie them over her back as they seem to have problems chewing through it. Emma we used to keep in on high wind days, after we mowed. Her allgerie was grasses and pollens. Most times the feet are contact allergens.

Awwwww poor Maddie and poor mom and dad !!! Did you get some fresh epson salts? I would try some new stuff. Keeping good thoughts that the meds kick in and help that baby !!! UGH on the allergy shots - but it will make the Maddaroo a happy camper again !! Please keep us posted -
Just a suggestion. Maybe check with the carpet cleaners just to make sure they didn't use a new product when they cleaned it.
Sending HHHHH's & PPPPP's that she will feel better soon.

Porky and the Roo would get along great right now. He could scratc her itchy feet and she could scratch his itchy feet and ears. He has been miserable too. We are seriously thinking about getting an allergy test for him on Friday.
