Hi, all! I found the site while searching dachshund stuff. My wiener had back surgery today. It was a complicated surgery, but it sounds like she's going to be ok. I still haven't seen her yet, but the vet says she has deep pain sensation, so I'm hoping for a good recovery. I could really use some prayers. Thanks for being here for us!
First of all Welcome to Wiener Writings. I am sending healing rays for your puppers recovery. There is a site called dodgers.list that you can join. It is for dachshunds with back problems. They have all kinds of things to help you. Hope everything turns out well with your doggie.

Welcome !!!! How is your baby doing? Would love an update - look forward to hearing more about you both !
Martha is doing great!! She's back to absolute normal with no wobble left whatsoever. The neurologist even says we can start taking her for our nightly walks again (4 weeks post-op). We're still being very careful and she hates the fact that she's not allowed on the couch anymore, but I can tell she feels great. Except for the LARGE dent in our wallet, the surgery was the best thing we could have done. It has made me so happy to see little Martha back to her spunky self. That dachshund strut is back in full force. Thanks for asking.
Welcome to you and Martha.
I am Merion from WI.
I have 2 standard smooth dachshunds.
Zack is black/tan and is 14 1/2 years old and Zena is red and is 2 1/2 years old.
Zack had a slight problem years ago with his back and now is weak in the right rear leg but he is older so it can be expected. We lucked out and just had to do the crate rest.

Fantastic news that Martha is doing so well. :apls: :apls: It is unbelievable how much vets charge for back surgery and how much that surgery cost differs depending on where you live. Let us know how the daily walks go. Congratulations on such a wonderful recovery.
that is excellent news !!!! Love the name Martha !!! Keep us posted !
Wow, just moved to Rochester from Tacoma! How neat to find local people. Hope your baby is doing okay after surgery!
