Just got home from the family cabin. I had an appt. with my surgeon last Thursday and things are going well, but slow. I have to do some physical therapy. Ugh. Alex is doing pretty good, if I can keep the little bugger from trying to work on his bandages and stitches. He managed to break the stitches that were holding the drains in place. One almost pulled out but my sister and I managed to push it back thru the hole. There are two drains, one on each side of the cut. So to keep either from pulling thru, we got a needle and dental floss and loosely anchored the ends of the two drains together. It worked. We have to wrap Alex up pretty good with gauze and tape to keep him from trying to work on his wound, even with the lampshade on he is able to get to it. Good thing I am with him 24/7.
I will still be off work for a few more weeks, but I am starting to feel a whole lot better. I still get sore when I sit too long. I may end up having to commute again, but I am going to look for a job closer to home. I just need something easy and stress-free to get me thru another couple of years.
Good to hear from you! We're were either going to send out the Cavalry or the Department of Homeland Security - whichever knew where to find Wasila! :2funny:
Karen
It's good to hear from you Patty....great that you are starting to feel better. Physical Therapy is a pain in the butt but it can work wonders.....stick to it!! Alex: Please don't chew on your stitches sweetie....hopefully you will not have them much longer :thumb:
I second the physical therapy. The more you put into now, the less you'll have to worry about it later.
How is Willy around Alex? Is Willy trying to sniff the wound area, or try to lick it? When Rudy was similarly wounded, I really can't remember what Max did. I think Max pretty much ignored him, but then again, by that point, Max was already 15 and getting long in the tooth.
:thumb: You go, Girl! Be diligent with the PT. You may hate it now, but you'll thank yourself later. Please give sweet Alex a snuggle (gentle) from me. And of course, ornery Willy gets one just as big.
Willy is freaked out by Mister Conehead! Doesn't want to get near him.
I'll be sure to find my "10 Laws of Physical Therapy" and post them on here for you. They are hilarious and very true. Since I've been going to PT for 2 years now, I've experienced a lot of them! It is amazing what PT can do and how quickly it can work. I've only gone so long as a way to keep things stable right now.
I hope Alex behaves and heals up quickly. Good luck with the job search. I know you would love to avoid that drive, especially when winter comes around.
Hey Patty I have been out of pocket a while and don't know what happened to Alex  but try finding a No Bite Collor they would so much better than the lampshade.

I have several sizes and have used them on a lot of foster pups with great success. I use the cat size for the smaller doglets.
Hope this helps :ambulance:
Good to hear both of you are on the mend. Little b$%# aren't they. The looking for a new job nearer is a great idea, next year when we move up Nick is going to lecture at the UNii and tech college, and I'll get a few days at phlabotomy (taking blood) just to see us from not going to stir crazy.
