Sometimes they argue over the blue blanket--which is huge and room enough for like 5 pups. They "talk" and whine at each other until they decide to share it. (MOOOOOOOOOOOOM, she's touching me!)
When they play Loki talks and hops and rolls over and tries to hump Zuzu; Zuzu says nothing and rolls over and sniffs and whispers in Loki's ears. BUT put a Stuffie between them and look out. If Zuzu makes one sound I know it will turn into a shootin' match and they will have to be separated ASAP. Of the 4 or 5 real fights they have had, Zu has been the instigator and we have to wrestle them to separate them. I mean Zuzu is SERIOUS. She is just a blur. Very scary.
For folks with multiple dawgs--what gets yours going and how do you intervene?
We don't have a lot of issues with agression. Thank goodness....
Buelah is the alpha of the pack and she is a bit possesive of her toys. From time to time Beatrice will take one of her "babies" and Buelah gets after her. Usually just a loud "hey...enough" stops it. I strongly suspect that Bea does it deliberately just to get Buelah going but who knows. Toby-Man used to get really annoyed if one of the others tried to take his spot in bed. Oscy, having grown up with Buelah dragging him around by the ears has absolutely no idea what aggression even is. I'm pretty sure they could do whatever they want to him and he would just lay down and hope that it ends in a belly rub. Silly boy.
Sometimes Dr. Leaky decides he's got to make a fool of himself with Merlin. He starts growling, and gets louder and louder until finally he attacks Merlin. He savagely bites into thin air just next to Merlin's ear. Merlin stands there, patiently, until Beau is done ranting.
Every once in a while Beau goes overboard and Merlin flashes his teeth. But no one is ever hurt. It's all bluff.
Guinness only gets mad when he's under the blanket and someone steps on him!
Karen
My two both get mad when they are under blankies and get stepped on. Zoe also has a couple specific toys that she feels are hers and no one else's. They both are very possessive of who lays next to mommie!!
I loved reading these! Our doxies are so funny.
Hallie sez being an only chile' rocks you don't have to share nuffin'. But when her Papillon cousins come over they will be playing and she will be watching intently (she would love to join in but unfortunately has a neurotically overly protective mother who doesn't let her) and when they get too rough (in her opinion) she will jump at them and go BARK!!! Just one bark...she doesn't have a mean bone in her body but we call her the hall monitor.
We were laughing at her last time the Pap's were rough housing between Hallie and I, and my cousin and Hallie was whining and trying to get around them, we weren't sure why but as soon as she found a hole and ran thru it she jumped on my cousins lap (who was just sitting there) and put her paws on her chest and smothered her in kisses...she was making sure she was OK.
She also jumped in front of an adorable bulldog in class once who was walking by snorting like bulldogs do, she thought he was growling so gave him a good "BARK" too. She just wants everyone to get along. :thumb: If she had opposable thumbs she'd probably be walking around with a ruler in her hands.
Do you pratice NILF it would reinforce that you are the pack leader so should help with the disagreements

NILF-Dog Training if you google it will tell you all about this form of dog training

LOLOLOLOL.... I think that would annoy pretty much anyone! Human or canine!
Hahaha...Terri...that is true and I certainly meant when one or the other steps on the other one....not a hooman stepping on them. By the way, have any of you seen the aol home page today? There is an article there on the most aggressive breed of dog. Apparently there has been a new study done and the results are saying the dachshund is the most aggressive breed of dog with the chihuahua coming in second. Have any of you seen this today? Your thoughts please!!! Of course I think this is total HOGWASH!!!
Sqeaks is our trigger for Oliver, not aggressive just has to have it. So we desqeack everytoy that has one. Blankies are another thing............. Amy hogs them all Oliver does nothing but look at her then me, like Mum SHE has them all including MINE.

Lucy refuses to let Mr. Wilson play tug-o-war with me, thats a game for her only. Mr. Wilson will get snippy if Lucy tries to get into Mr. Wilsons food bowl. His bowl, his food.
otherwise they get along nicely.

Hard to believe the article!
Schatzi and Molly do well until the doorbell rings or someone knocks on the door. At that moment it's a race to see who can get there first and who can bark/growl the most fierce. Then it becomes a battle between each other. I read somewhere that it is really Schatzi showing the she is the alpha since she is the one being so fierce with Molly. If someone hears them, they really think they are about to tear each other apart, but Molly gets the message pretty fast!
As for the article about Dachshunds being aggressive-they probably put it on there because of the article about the dachshund chewing off it's owners toe. That way they can continue the sensationalism and make the breed look really bad. Takes the pressure off all the other breeds that are have the reputation to be aggressive.
Okay, so I just read the article and I have only one thing to say about this....THEY HAVE NEVER MET OSCAR!
I read the article, too, and agree IT IS HOGWASH!!!! I would be interested in what type of situation prompted their "aggressiveness".

About 7 years ago Clifford and I were at a fall festival walking around. A man and his wife were approaching us on the sidewalk when he suddenly grabbed his wife and DRAGGED her into the grass a good 6 feet exclaiming "LOOK OUT, THOSE ARE VICIOUS DOGS!!!!!".
Of course both C and I just looked at him like he was totally nuts...and he didn't look too skwirly.
Cliffy?? Our beloved little Clifford??? Viscious???? :chairfall:
Now, Guinness' collar tag says, "GUINNESS - WILL BITE" and his vet record is covered ALL OVER with those round red circles which mean "BITER!!!" so if those people had crossed his path, he could definitely have given them a run for their money, but really - CLIFFORD???!!???
Was he foaming at the mouth at the time, or what?

Even though we have 4 at our house;we only have 2 that wrestle with each other! Manny& Fritz are the 2 that likes to wrestle each other! One will be laying in one of the dog bed minding his own business and the other one will start to want to wrestle and vice versa. :thumb:
