Title: UPDATE: Alex had an accident but will be A-OK
Post by: PattyInAK on July 03, 2008, 11:03:00 AM
Alex is home.  He is doing pretty good.  He has to wear a lamp shade for TWO WEEKS due to him not leaving his wound alone, he wants to lick it.  So he is not a happy camper but seems to be adjusting well.  He has meds he has to take and I have to put a hot compress (warm wash cloth) on his wound 3-4 times a day.  He has tubes in the wound to drain the wound, I shouldn't have to do anything with those as long as I am applying the hot compresses.  He has several stitches, haven't counted them all yet.  He shared a Filet of Fish sandwich from McDonalds with me on the way home.  He has nice clean teeth now, too, and had a couple extractions.  Thanks for all your good wishes.
I also had my checkup.  Will be starting physical therapy for my stiff neck.  Will see the doc again in a couple of months.  He thinks I should stay away from work for now.

Patty - let us know how he is and how YOU check out !!!

Oh no poor Alex I'll bet you were beside yourself I would have hit the floor! I'll bet your sister felt bad. That is odd he didn't bleed isn't it. Must have been quite a gash to require stitches. He's going to be a sore boy for a while. What a way to get a dental!

If I worked at that vet clinic I for sure would be petting him full time lol. It will be good to know he's home and resting, let us know and let us know how your appointment goes too how are you feeling?

YIKES!  How scary!  Good job with the first aid.  Did he get a lot of stiches?  Poor Frankenweenie.  I think mom will take really good care of him, though so he may end up gaining a few pounds before the vet sees him again.  Man, he's gonna be hirting everywhere!  Poor thing.  and Chloe, did he turn and attack her?

Hang in there, all of you!  Sending rays N by NW to Wasilla from PA.

Poor Alex, the dental will probably be the worst part. Alex sounds like Amy, while she was in they said she whinged but was real happy when someone sat with her.

Wow - it only takes a moment to freak us out, huh?  Poor Alex!  I agree, that is a weird way to get a dental.  (Btw, Robinton removed his own stitches two days before the vet was set to do it after his neuter and lumpectomy!  Wish I had known - would have saved me the ten-mile round trip!)  Stitches and draining rays for Alex are heading north...

OUCH!!! Someone forgot to tell Chloe that Alex is not a cocktail wiener.  Sending rays for a quick return to vim and vigor...

Ouch!  Sound somewhat like the episode that Rudy had when he tangled with a Great Dane.   Despite some pretty nasty damage to his neck, there wasn't a whole lot of blood.   Rudy had a full recovery, I'm sure Alex will, too.  Sending rays Alex's way.

Alex got too close to my sister's dog while she was eating when we were all at the cabin.  Alex had his hide ripped pretty deeply in the area of where his belly meets his right hind leg.  He required surgery to patch him up......20 stitches and two drains.  And he has to wear a lamp shade for two weeks.
