Title: Toby takes a few more baby steps to recovery!
Post by: TerriL on September 28, 2005, 07:13:54 AM
We have had a few good days!  The infection in Toby's sinus seems to be better.  I've stopped the nasal spray (which makes him one happy little pupper).  He is not nearly as congested.  We had a bit of a scare yesterday as Oscy started to cough a little bit in the morning.  On the off chance that Toby had, on top of EVERYTHING else, contracted that Canine Flu, we have started Oscy on a five day antibiotic.  He has not coughed again that I know of but I'd rather be safe.  Buelah seems fine and actually Oscy does as well...except for the cough.
Toby now needs to start eating.  This is a pretty big challenge.  He simply did not want to eat anything that was offered for the last couple of days.  His vet gave him yet another injection yesterday.  Something to stimulate his appetite.  He did eat a tiny bit of cheese and roast beef this morning which is better than it was.
Walking more than three feet seems to bring on his coughing spells so I am still carrying him to the yard to do his business.  Buelah is quite happy about this as mom being in the yard means that it's time to play fetch the tennis ball!
This morning I was sitting outside with Toby on my lap.  Buelah and Oscy saw a squirril and made a barking crazy dash to get him.  Toby actually stood up and let out a bark!  Another first!  He has shown no interest at all in hunting with the others until this morning so I was thrilled with that.
All in all I feel that we have turned a corner.  I feel , as does our vet, that Toby is now in the recovery phase of this nightmare.  I truely do believe that the prayers and rays from everyone here as well as our family have given this sweet little guy something to fight for.  I simply cannot thank everyone enough for that and for giving me the support to help him through this.  We have a long way to go but it sure feels good to say that this boy is finally getting better!  Thank you ALL from the bottom of my heart!

This is wonderful news Terri!!  :hello2:  I am so glad to hear that Toby is doing better (specially after that scare yesterday with the info on the Canine Flu).  It sounds as though this little guy is going to recover to be 100% and back to his normal self in no time!!  You are such a wonderful mom taking all this time to help him recover and love him with all you have!!

Terri, that is the best news I have heard all day!  I am so happy he is making improvements.  Just think, in a few weeks, he will be out there chasing squirrels with the other two.

We keep thinking about you!
