Title: Dog, Cars and Summertime
Post by: JetEd73 on June 09, 2008, 01:39:36 PM
...don't mix very well...

Where I work we have a meeting room that we let the chain stores and restaurants use to train their personell.

I'm standing in the truck parking area smoking a cig and one of the secretaries walks in and says "I think someone is planning on leaving that dog in the car all day".

My response, "not if I have anything to do about it"

Walked up to the guy, I heard the pup in the truck. He says he's going to take it to the vet after their meeting...which ends at 3:30pm. I told him I would watch his pup in my office. Right now I have an 8 week old Lab/dalmation mix asleep beside my desk.

I gave him my information for my vet, think I'll print him something about leaving pets in hot cars.

Never mind I just talked him personally, he seems like a decent guy just not that informed about heat stroke and pets and hot cars.

It's only 87 today but I'll bet itll get to be an easy 120 in the car.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I just saved a pup....at least for today.

Get the word out...Dogs, Cars and Summer time is a recepie for heat stroke.

:headbang:Way to go!!!!  Some people just don't know and don't try to get educated about what to do with their dogs.  Hopefully this person learned their lesson.

Our police out here are great all ou have to do is call and the perosn who has left child or animal in the car ends up on summons, along with a smashed car window and note where to find the used to be ocupants of the car.

I have full confidence in my vet which is the one I sent him to. And I was pretty, how should I say, mmmm matter of factly about leaving dogs is cars, especially in the summer.

in the winter/cool months, my dogs will dive under the blanket and hang out while I watch a movie at the theater. In the summer I only take them to places where I can bring them inside or to go for walks.
