Title: The Fox and the (Dachs) Hound
Post by: David C. on June 03, 2008, 08:03:09 PM
I went to let the Zs out this morning for their first potty of the day.   Usually they are pretty spry in the morning (unless it rains of course).  This morning, though, Zeke took off out of the door like a rifle shot.   In my neighbors yard, and right on the fence line was a magnificent Red Fox.   This was one of the larger foxes I've seen in this area.  Zeke was easily dwarfed by it.   Nevertheless, Zeke took off for the fence like the proverbial bat out of h-e-double hockey sticks.  The fox decided it wanted nothing to do with this grey, ground-hugging torpedo heading for it (of course the fence would have stopped Zeke), and quickly ran through two backyards before curling back towards the street and heading back into the stream valley park.

Zeke kept running up and down the fence for a few minutes, and finally gave up to come in for a well-earned breakfast.

Thanks to a warm, wet spring, the wildlife around here has just gone bonkers.   The chipmunks in particular seem to have really exploded in population, they are everywhere.

Good grief Zeke!  Maybe you'd better stick to something your own size.  I don't think that big "doggy" would be anything to tangle with.  Must have been a sight though.

Eddie seems to know when some creature has invaded his yard or the neighbors.  He gets antsy, starts to pace, talks a lot, and the when I open the door is off like a shot.  The bunny was back and let me get a bit close to them, but as soon as Eddie saw it the bunny was gone.

I'm out for bunny so beware wabbit says Eddie
