Zoe is currently on two to three weeks of crate rest. She is taking tramadol for pain and valium to keep her calm. Neurologically, her exam was normal. Approximately three days ago, she was running along the fence in the backyard and ran into our outdoor swing with her front left side. Hubby and I did not think about that until we were on the way to the Care Center. Hubby saw her do it but I did not and he said she hit the swing kind of hard. At this point the Vet feels that she has a soft tissue injury because her neck was fine with front to back movement but hurt her when moving from side to side. Given Zoe's history with IVDD, we are treating her as if she has a disc problem with the crate rest and medications. The valium is keeping her kind of "loopey" and she hasn't eaten too much except some peanut butter and turkey breast when she takes her pills. I am assuming that as she feels better she will feel more like eating her regular food. She is drinking. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I hope to see improvement in the next couple of days :xfinger: I did sleep next to her crate last night and may for a few more nights. ps: when given he prescription for the valium, I asked the vet if it was for Zoe or for me!! Again, thank you for all your well wishes, Cheryl.
Well, that is great news that it isn't a IVDD flare up, but I'm sorry she is still sore and has the soft tissue injury! We are sending rays her (and your) way!
What a good mommy you are to sleep right by her.... sending rays in full force that she heals quickly !
Rays and prayers to you both. At least the valium keeps her in one place.

Hi Beth, thank you for asking. Ten more days of crate rest to go....and I can't wait..... :verdict: :verdict: She is enjoying spending time in her ex-pen outside. I block her in beside me on our love seat while I am on my laptop at night...she seems to like that. All in all (knock on wood) she seems to be doing very well. We are stepping down the dexamethsaone a little at a time. Right now we are on 1/2 tablet once a day and then move to 1/2 tab every other day. Still taking the methocarbamol and pepcid for da tummy. Daddy bought her a pink stroller so we can both get out walks in at night but it has been too too hot to take her out in it. Had her in it once and she loved it.....I will have to post some pictures when I get her in it for another walk.
Continuing to send prayers for all the sick puppers out there.
