Checking in on our puppers who are ailing.... Please let us know moms !
Loki rallied pretty well on Friday but 5 minutes of mild exercise (she just HAD to walk up to the strawberry patch for a nosh) and now still a hurting pup. Crate rest, meds, and heating pad for a few more days. Still no nuero markers and appetite and bowels okay. Will call vet for some stronger muscle relaxants. (she's on 2.5 mg of Valium x2 a day plus the Metacam now.) Suspect that she is having another episode of spodylosis where a "hook" forms a bridge on the vertebrae, but cannot know unless x-ray, which she is not a candidate for as of today.
Glad the weather has been clear and dry. NOTHIN' worse than trying to get a hurting pup out to poop in the rain. Will be leaving her all day in the crate alone tommorrow when I go to work. Without the stimulus of us being home she may rest a little easier.
She's bored but sleepy. Gave her a coloring book but she ate the crayons.
Thanks for your concern and rays!
Thanks for the update, Leslie. I've been wondering how you guys have been doing. Sorry to hear she had a set-back. The muscle relaxer, Robaxin, has worked well for Gretchen. I hope changing meds will do the trick for her. Keep us posted, please.
As for DD and Hallie. I know DD hasn't been getting much sleep, so it might be a while before she gets back here. Hallie is doing good. DD's job is now to keep Hallie entertained and quiet - good to hear she's feeling back to normal but hard to keep her down when she sees no reason for it. This was a milder episode than the last one, but it was only a couple months ago that it happened. That is the scary part. I was REALLY scared when I heard her screaming over the phone. I usually hear barks and squeaky toys being played with.
Poor Loki :comfort: Hope all goes well for the liitle gal..
Wondering on Hallie and DeeDee as well.... Inquiring minds want to know....
I'm sure DeeDee is doing all she can and more..
IMO, she is a dog owner extraordinare....
Till all's well, I'll keep sending out the rays....
Thanks for the update Leslie! We have been thinking about you guys and are still sending rays!
Dee Dee - We are worried about Hallie too..how is she doing? I hope you are holding up - I know how stressful and upsetting it is!
I've been out of town with no internet access for the last week and a half. I am just sick to hear about all of this. Rays heading out from the Quad in florida for all of our sweet babies who need them.
Keeping Hallie in my thoughts and prayers, DD.
I haven't been able to keep up with all the doxies that need prayers here, but I do pray for you all every night.
