Wondering how much a Tweenie Dachshund is suppose to weigh think the mom was a standard and the dad was a Minnie not sure but do not think Patches is a Minnie???

I've checked 4 different sites. 3 say that a tweenie is between 13-16 pounds. One says between 12-16 pounds. I'd say that Patches is well within a safe range for a tweenie. To be a mini she would have to be below 11.
This site has some good explanations on it:

Thanks Teresa for the web site was very interesting since patches is a Long Haired Doxie makes it harder to tell if she is still over weight or not. I have been feeding her Premium Edge Healthy Weight dry dog food 1/8th of a cup in the am & pm she acts hungry all of the time.Patches also is getting more exercise she trots beside my medical scooter when the side walks are wide enough for three. Also walk Buddy the Doberman with the scooter Dobermans require allot of exercise.Patches can now go about 3 miles we try to go at least three times a week. Of course this is rainy season so have to stay home when raining cannot get the scooter wet. Hoping for a readmill one of these days for all of us for when it is too hot or too cold.
Thanks again .

I still think 1/4 cup a day of low calorie food would be too little with the amount of exercise she is getting. It would be different if it were regular food. The fact that she has lost as quickly as she has (which to me seems pretty quick for a doxie) just makes me wonder. If she is a tweenie, I think she should be able to maintain where she is and be fine. If she were to be around 14 she would still be in good shape. What does the vet want her to be down to? There was another site that discussed the weight. It was a message board, too, and made the point that many of the vets have a hard time recommending a correct weight for the tweenies. Many times they want them to be closer to a mini's weight and it just isn't possible.
Thanks again Teresa may up the amount of food and see what happens hate to have her hungry all the time at least she does a good job of vacuuming under the table at meal times keeps the floor very clean. We think she killed a mouse hubby found one out on the Patio she did not eat it though which was good since we really do not know how it died.Neighboors tore down an very, very old wooden building in their back yard + we have gotten allot of rain lately.Another reason to feed Patches a little more food I think 13.7 # is a pretty good weight she looks better not like a sausage with feet has definition at the waist now. If my camera decides to work will try & take some new pictures of her.

I would think it could be like us humans-It's warm weather and exercise is increased. She can have a little more food to balance it out. In the winter when you may not be able to get out as much, you may have to keep closer tabs on it. I understand about the four-legged vacuum. They do a wonderful job!
