Title: She's HOME!
Post by: Teresa on May 13, 2008, 11:01:55 AM
I received a call about 11:30. Schatzi was out of surgery and waking up. She did great. They have someone there at night, so I'll be getting her tomorrow. She was so funny this morning. Usually when we walk in the front door, she starts shaking. Today, she was fine and seemed happy to see everyone there. It made it a lot easier for me to leave her. She may not ever feel that way about them again, but today I'm glad she did.

I need to go ahead and get Schatzi's new bed that she will have in the kitchen area when we move. This would be the perfect time, since I'm going to keep her off the big bed for the next few days if we aren't at home. I don't want to take any chances of her jumping when she hears the neighbors come home. She's fine when we are here and she uses her little steps to get down, but I will feel better with her not being up there without us. Now I'm just trying to remember where I saw the Snuggle ball bed. Meg and I were out shopping one day and one of the stores actually had one.. Does anyone have any ideas? I keep thinking I had looked at PetSmart and they didn't have it there and Meg says she hasn't been to Petco. Maybe I'm wrong about Petsmart, but if anyone knows for sure, it would save some running around all over the place tomorrow morning.
Also, Schatzi weighed in at 10.6 lbs today. Hopefully with the yard to run around and chase all the critters in, we'll be able to keep it there.

Schatzi is home and doing great. She has informed me -in her own doxie way- that she is starving, which I consider a good sign. She definitely wants to take over the pillows on the bed and not lay down on her side and stretch out. Can't say that I blame her. Molly is just curious about the way she smells. I noticed earlier that she was shivering a little and then when she woke up was panting some. They said to give her the pain medicine this evening, and I took that as the signs that it was time. She's full, gone to potty, and had her medicine. She should be a happy pupper for a little while now.

Shivering can be a sign of pain in a dog at least that was what I was told by a vet one time.

Once I gave Schatzi her pain medicine, she snuggled down and was snoring in about 30-45 minutes. She slept well all night (even though she had me on the very edge of the bed). Randy goes to play basketball at 5:30 in the morning. Schatzi decided it was a good time to get up, go potty, have food, and let Mamma pet her for a long time. Spoiled a little? Not at all
