Title: I'm pretty poo'd off with MUM
Post by: Roberta on May 04, 2008, 05:21:01 AM
every time I get settled on a seat, bed, andything off da ground  MUM picks me up and tells me NO, so I go and sulk, it used to work but she is not even comign to see if I'm OK.
remember da linda ronstead song "poor poor pitiful me"   OliveR

mum here, please do not fall for it, we are trying to get him to stay on the ground, most of the time onto plush pile or his bed and blankies. As we are sort of fed up with all the chairs pointing to the walls and coffee tables pushed up to sofa's.

I feel your pain, Oliver. Our sofa and love seat cushions are on the living room floor. It makes for a messy living room. The people that come over are used to us putting them back where they belong so there will be a place to sit. Such is life with a dachshund!

Soon you won't need the sofa Ollie, once you get into the new house and those wonderful windows clear down to doxie level! It took about 3 years before I really trusted Hallie to not jump on furniture. I trust her 100% now when I'm home but for the rare times I have to leave her at home alone for a bit I still XPen off the couch just to be safe. I can picture a line of doxie nose art about 12 inches up all along those windows!  :thumb:

Thanks Dee DEe, for the reminder to pack the shower power that removes said nose marks, some of ours have paw marks up waist height from him jumping to try and get through. He is a little $#@ as in the morning he actually waits till he hears the shower going on to jump up on the bed as he knows I'll lift him down, I've even turned it on and stood in the bathroom and stuck my head out and told him no,  he then goes off in a sulk, but on occasions checks you in the shower then goes up.

ROTFL!!!  :2funny:
That is too funny. Can you just picture the expression on his face and what wheels are turning in his head as he's peeking in to be sure you are in the shower and not watching. And waste high paw prints...there is just no winning for a dachshund, they leave incriminating prints of one kind or another at the scene of the crime.

There are not quite waste high prints on the outside of my front door screen door (glass part) I have NO idea how they got there. My front yard is fenced and it wasn't Hallie, she would never in a million years jump up on a door and I'd have seen her if she did as she's never in the front without me, especially on the porch where there are steps down I'm always right with her in the front yard. Freaks me out a bit LOL.

Oliver, Dis is Toby-Man Sanders and I am with you brother.  Our mama went and put up BABY rails around the big bed so that we HAVE to go down the ramp.  I mean honestly man,  do you think these mamas have any idea what it's like for us guys?    My mama tilts the chairs around the outside table up against the table so that I can't climb up there.  She thinks I'm gonna jump off that table?  Okay, so maybe I did try it once, but dude, it's a long way down and ya don't have to tell me twice.
I have found that giving her the pitiful face does sometimes get ya treats so you might want to try that.  I wouldn't normally lower myself but I gotta say that a treat is a treat and I'm not above groveling and looking pathetic if that's what it takes.

Iz only gets the treat if she finds me in my bed instead of on da bed. I still try  da jump up every so often just to see  if she will give in. My best one was getting up on the sofa with da coffee table in front of it, I ran jumped and landed over da table on da sofa all 2foot of it.

:doah: Oh my....if I woulda seen that, I woulda gotten ten gray hairs!!!  Oliver, please, pay attention to your mommy.  She is only trying to do what is best for you.   We have the baby rails up all around our big bed so our two have to go down the ramp also...we also use the baby rails to block off any chairs that are not in use.  They work wonders!
