I got a call today from a good friend that I work with. Her poodle that she has had for ten years, and who we often trade furkid stories about, suddenly went into seizures and died this morning. There had been no warning. Krissy has always had a slight bit of respiratory problem during allergy season and that was the case this morning. Charlotte let her out to potty and said that she did throw up once after she came in , but it was mainly her food that she had eaten right before bed the night before. She gave her some benadryl like the vet had told her for the allergy stuff. Krissy was a little lethargic, which could be from the benadryl, but otherwise okay. Charlotte was out running an errand when her daughter called her crying and told her that Krissy had started seizing and then had quit breathing.
Charlotte is having a hard time with this. They have always taken this dog with them on any vacation and she is so much a part of their family. She said she called me because, of all the people we work with, I'm the one who would understand the loss she is feeling. We work with some people who do not understand how important our dogs are. Please keep Charlotte and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
That is so sad. Please tell Charlotte we are thinking of her and her family. Nothing is worse than something like this happening without any signs. My heart goes out to her.
