On my way to a job this afternoon I saw the most interestingly funny thing. As I was driving down a main road a wild goose decided to cross the street, so all the cars either slowed down or stopped to let the goose cross. Well, one car that stopped to let the goose cross in front of it and what did the goose do? It stopped right in front of the car and refused to move; cars were going around the stopped vehicle but still the goose stood there. Me? I drove on, checking my rear view mirror to see what would happen. I guess the goose did finish its trek because the car eventually showed up in my mirror farther down the road.
Marcia: I have a story to tell you on a different bird! A few years ago my Mom and I were taking the first 2 dogs I've owned to the vets and on the back road we decided to take we got behind a couple of turkey's and I don't mean "people" I mean the real thing. When we got to the vets I told them why I was a little late and my vets husband said that some drivers are turkey's and I told him that it was the real thing!
I also have a funny one:
My then-husband Sam was driving from one job in Frostburg, Maryland to his other job in Hagerstown, Maryland. Suddenly from the side of the road, a giant wild turkey comes flapping out into the road, and before Sam can even react, he hits the turkey! It slams into the grill o his car, flips into the air, bounces off the windshield and sails about 30 feet, landing on the ground in the opposite lane - dead as dead can be. Sam screeches to a stop, and grabs his chest - I mean that turkey nearly frightened him to death!
A pick-up truck coming along going the opposite way stopped in front of the dead bird. As the driver gets out of his vehicle, Sam thinks to himself, "Nice of that guy to stop and make sure I'm O.K." WRONG! The Good Samaritan walks up to the dead turkey, picks it up, hoists it into the back of his pick-up, gets back into his cab, and drives off.
Now there's a man who likes his road kill real fresh!! :thumb:
