Title: Wez gotta home from Nannies
Post by: Roberta on March 23, 2008, 04:14:41 AM
We spent the thur to Sun at my mum's looking into some house things, to fin dthe wrongsink is in so they will have to redo the bench as  the other sink is smaller and we paid a good fortune for it. I did not want a big sink and drainer and at the pre build meet I was worried that the joe blog would be fitted and guess what, it was, not our problem, plus the vanities are wrong we wanted all mixers due to my arthritis but that is an easy fix as they are not plumbed in yet.

a look out the front door

We now are up to painting then tiles and final fix, then the hard work for us begins, has anyone used the no fence thing for dogs. We plan to give them a area outside the back door but while we are out working outside to keep them to the area we were thinking of the no fence thing need to look into how it works

ps just looked NO way would I do that to them, we'' just have to keep the evil eye on the pair of them

I personally do not like the no fence approach it may keep you dogs in but being of the hunting type if they go after something some dogs will not even notice getting shocked. Then on the other side of the coin so to speak loose dogs & wildlife can get to your dogs at anytime no real fence to keep them safe. Then their is always the possibility of your dog getting stolen or picked up Oh look at the poor dog loose type thing. This recently happened to a Doberman the owner lived on 3 acers of land no fence some one called in about a loose Doberman & the Sherriff went out to check it out. According to the owner of the Doberman the dog was shot dead in his own yard the one with no fence.According to the Sherriff he shot in self defense??? Love my fence.

Hi its not that they will not have a fence there is a fence around the whole block, they have an enclosure so we can open the back door and they will have about half an acre chicken wired in, what I had seen was the citronella spray thingy, but I don't think it would work. My pair are never allowed out without being fenced in in the city but this is up bush on 6-7 acres. I was trying to think of someway so when we were out working on the landscaping or gardening we did not have to be perminantly watching them. Leaving them out when we are not there will not be a goer as I'm terrifed of snakes getting into their area, even though I have thought about buying the thing that puts pulses into the ground.
Here is a far away shot of the house and hill our land it the blank bit to about the top of the trees that are clumped in about the middle that part is my sisters. Think we may need a ride on mower............just kidding we are fencing the top around the house off and my sisters horses can keep ithe rest down

I just can't get over your place Roberta. It will be HEAVEN! Wow...that view. Sounds like you are getting into the inevitable building problems, i.e., sink...but dang, one look out at that view and the stress of it all will just melt away. Absolutely love the glass the doxies have a grand view from several angles. Love the view also of the house on the hill! Looks like a mansion up there! CAN HALLIE AND I COME LIVE WITH YOU??? I don't do toilets or cook but I can vaccuum, dust and clean up doggie doody! We don't need much room!

That Amy side view boy does she look like Hallie there. I love the fresh bath curls. I have chickened out on letting Hallie air dry because when all wet she runs around and rubs her head all over the floor and I worry she will hurt herself...when she came out of the first neuro clinic she was freshly bathed and her hair was straight so they must of cage dried her which I hate to think because she hates hot air in her face, I am very careful about that when blow drying her. Still, would be interesting to see how much like Amy she'd be air dried. Gretchen air dries very nicely she looks perfectly groomed!

The invisible fence might work ok for what you want it for. I had a picket fence put in front of my house that I'd never leave Hallie in unattended but it is fine for keeping her in and others out while we're doing yard work, etc out there. You won't have the trouble of neighbor dogs and cats visiting up there I'll bet though and I know you and Nick, the pups would never be out of your site anyway. Might be just the thing!

Yes Dee Dee there would be plenty of room for you both and I don't mind the toilets and cooking..............They had a ball in the house I don't think it will sink in for all of us till the first night. The people next door have an old lab Ruby who has visited and the other neighbors a collie and they use an electric fence and my sister down the hill, who has 2 pappions. My brother thinks it will become normal for them and they will not want to go off, as his don't but it took about a year and they still lock them up in their pen when they go out. Not that my pair they can get far in head height grass.............
Luck has it  Amy is not a roller just a shacker after baths, Oliver is our roller and its usually our bed.
We now have her walking for about 2-3 kilometers and I try to jog  then walk to get her moving, she is so cute as all you see is a lot of hair bustling along . At mums we walk AM and PM all six dogs in the AM and we had been leaving Amy at night so as to over do it, but on the last night when we left her with Nick, she did a tantrum like no other, Nick said she was running up and  down the hall barking looking out all the windows and she was really pushie shovie when they all came back, so I think we will take her and let her walk a little and carry her the rest.
