My daughter, Meghan, applied to Winthrop University's Masters in Social Work program for this fall. She recently found out that she has been accepted and will start in August! I've been going to post this since she found out, which happened to be the day before she left to go on a cruise with friend from college, but then everything was happening with Hallie and I didn't even think about it!!
Randy is thrilled since Winthrop has a basketball team, they are playing this week, actually, and she will only be 20 minutes from Charlotte where there is a professional basketball team. I think Meg is afraid she may see us more than she ever did when she was in Nashville. Of course, she'll only be and hour and a half away and can come home when she wants to for the weekends. It has been nice having her home and we will all enjoy it until August, but I know she is ready to get back out on her own and have some breathing room. The best part is, when she gets done with this degree, she'll finally be able to work in the field he loves.
That is great news !!! Congrats to Meghan and to you !
Teresa ~~ That's great news! Congrats to Meaghan!
The Winthrop basketball team is playing Washington State University this week! A Pacific Northwest University which is 70 miles from us and we are Cougar fans! I also believe that DeeDee and Hallie have a nephew that attends WSU. Plus a college player from Gonzaga University (which is also playing in the NCAA), Spokane, plays for the Charlotte Hornets -- his name is Adam Morrison -- a local Spokane boy! Dee
Thats great, mys sistr is in social work for the indigioous (aborigines) in Lakes Entrance, in the past few years her programs she sets up and runsthrough the clinic (getting kids motivated in the health area ) have won awards from stae and federal governments so there are a lot of acalades to be done in this work.
And the big plus you gt to hold her more often.

:apls: :apls: :apls: :meme: :meme: :meme: CONGRATULATIONS TO MEGHAN! Looks like mom and dad raised an amazing young woman! I'm sure that she will be absolutely brilliant in her chosen profession. Having her closer to home must be really nice for you Theresa. I sure wish that mine were closer!
Congratulations to Meghan! You should be proud.
Thanks everyone. It will be nice to have her closer to home, although I think we all agree, not in the same house. She says she feels like she lives in her room most of the time. That's not exactly true, but she does have all that is important to her in there. We've laughed recently as we are trying to downsize, a lot, for the move and Meg says she already downsized all that she can. She has a few things stored at my office for her apartment at school, but other than that, she just has what she really needs.
Roberta, what your sister does sounds really interesting. That would be a lot of hard work and take a ton of dedication. Meg's plan is to work in the mental health field with children and adolescents. Winthrop has a concentration in that field, which made it the perfect fit.
I've already set the Tivo to record the game this evening. Winthrop was the #13 seed and Washington was #4. It'll be interesting to see how they do.
Congratulations to Meaghan!!!!

Congratulations Meghan!!! You are an amazing young woman who will truly make a difference in the lives of so many youngsters :apls: :apls:
That's fantastic, congrats to Meghan and to you too for raising such a wonderful daughter! You have every right to be proud. Yes it was my nephew who went to WSU (so did I, I started vet school there but would cry everytime a farmers chicken or goat died so decided wisely, that it was not the field for me). My nephew is now working in Bellevue at a big architectural firm and is going to go to grad school and get his masters starting next year.
