Hello everyone! We all remember Strudel as a beloved dachshund and a sweet German pastry, right? Well, Pfeffernusse is also a German sweetie, as is my new dachshie! I actually survived three months without one, so now life is back to normal! (There was a three week period where I'd tried to adopt a two year old Lhasa Apso, but his aggression went from bad to worse, so he ended up back at the no-kill shelter where I found him, and I hope he'll find the right mommy. ) Anyway, Pheffie is 10 weeks old, and he's gorgeous! He's a long hair, supposed to be a mini but we'll see, and his coloring is fascinating. He's basically butterscotch and black -- really cool looking! Not as red as a classic red, but maybe a faded red brindle. He's got the calmest eyes (and this is the scariest night of his life -- I'm sure he's homesick for his doggy mom and dad, and his brother and sister!) His nose isn't as long as Strudel's, but he's still a puppy so any of this could change. Anyway, it's SO good to have a stubby legged love love in my life again. Funny how life works -- I still miss Strudel furiously, and while my fantasy tries to imagine her sharing the companionship of this sweet little boy, I know that in reality she would NEVER have permitted any other dogs in the family! She was Little Miss Alpha, no question about that! It really is true -- there always is enough love to go around. At least there is if you happen to be a dachshund who comes into my life!
So now it's time for obedience training, learning the wonders of going out for a walk on our leash, then those trips to Grammy's and Grampy's -- this guy has no idea what he got himself into, but I think he's gonna like it a lot!
So, shall I remain LesleyandStrudel, or should I change my userID to LesleyandPfefferneusse?!!
Congratulations on your new baby! Can't wait to see pictures! :hello2:
Oooooh, congratulations Lesley! Helloooooo Pheffie! I can hardly wait to see this little sweet treat.
Lesley how fantastic, bet he will be called a lot of other things along the way! and also cannot wait for photos. I'll have to think about the name.

Speaking as ze resident linguist/gourmet chef, I vould have to say zat you could go one of two vays:
LesleyStrudelnusse
Or:
LesleyPfefferStrudel
Perzonally I prefer a nice strudelnusse over a less appealing pfefferstrudel, but ze choice is yours, of course!

Lol, you came up with some good ones! I love LesleyStrudelneusse because it honors my first love as well as my new! Being that Strudel no longer walks the earth, I think she'd be quite pleased with the name AND the puppy!
Congrats on your new addition.... I would be willing to bet that Strudel-Angel had something to do with getting him to you !!! Look forward to hearing all about him and of course some PICTURES !!! Love Karen's name suggestion !
Congratulations! Can't wait to see the pictures of the new addition!
He sounds like a wonderful addition to your family. And, yes...we need pictures!!!!! I also sounds like he landed in a home to be envied by other pups. You 2 will do each other a world of good.
Congratulations on your new addition!!! So can we call him Pfeffie? That is so adorable. Pictures are a must and I can't wait to see him!!!! I too believe Strudel may have had something to do with getting Pfeffie to you. I bet she is looking down smiling....again, CONGRATULATIONS!
Aww! Welcome, Pfeffernuesse! They were my favorite cookies when I was a child - and boy, did I murder the name! Just call him "Pepper", for short!
So good to see you Lesley and SO sorry about Strudel. She was a wonderful little girl and one of the first doxies I met on this board.
Congrats on the new baby! Good for you. Love your name choice, that sure is a mouthful...how do you pronounce it? I am sure he will have lots of cute nick names from that. Similar to Patty's Hasen, when her last name at the time was Pfefer (sp?).
My vote is to combine names and keep Strudel in there, LesStruPfeff. You can bet at least that that name won't have already been taken! :)
Looking forward to photos!
I do go for the complicated names! If I'd been able to keep that Lhasa, his name would have been Artinsus! Anyway, Pfeffernusse is pronounced feffer-noose. It's a Chrismas confection ... and my Pffefie joined me on St. Paddy's Day, go figure! :D He's such a good boy, and well on his way to being spoiled rotten (in a good way, of course!)
Sorry to hear about your loss of Strudel.
How about O'Strunusse since you got him on St. Paddy's Day, or there is french Le Strunusse. Or any of the other names already listed. Whichever you prefer will be quite good I'm sure. Congrats on the new baby.
