I talked to Nikki yesterday afternoon (Wed) and she has to work this morning (Thurs). Originally she was going to pack up and leave this morning. Also, her elderly aunt, who just had surgery, is being released to go home this morning. Nikki is hesitant about leaving her aunt and uncle. I told her they were welcome to come too - but she said her aunt couldn't travel. I am afraid Nikki may decide to stay - but I hope she changes her mind and heads this way. The traffic coming out of Houston is horrendous - to Dallas, to San Antonio and to Austin. They were supposed to open up the other side of the highways going out of the city to help with the bumper to bumper traffic. The thing that worries me is that if Nikki waits too late - she won't be able to get out. Please keep Nikki, her puppers and family in your thoughts.
I will post as I can with updates. This storm looks to be worse than Katrina - the good thing is that they have been evacuating all week. Based on the path - even Dallas should get high winds and a lot of rain. Very scary......
We will be thinking of all of you and keeping you in our prayers! Keep us updated!
Barb,
My prayers and best wishes that this storm somehow hits an unpopulated area, or loses strength! I have my fingers crossed and the puppers have their paws crossed for everyone in the area of Rita.
   :xfinger: :xfinger: :xfinger:
I sincerely hope Nikki and the other person gets out of dodge! Sometimes you can lead a horse to water but.... All we can do is pray they heed the warnings and leave. Doesn't someone else that posts here live in Houston? Looks like Houston could take a bad blow too! I hope everyone leaves and goes to safety!
If anyone needs to they can come here to, but I am awfully far away! Sometimes people need to :BangHead: on a brick wall before they believe it is hard!
CNN is saying "THIS IS THE BIG ONE", it looks now like LA could take a big hit from it too! I am praying and hoping, if I can do something, let me know!
Hi Barb, So glad you posted about Nikki. I have been thinking about her and the Texas Four since Rita starting heading their way. My stepdaughter and her family live in Houston too. We called and they promised to leave. They will be going to family in San Antonio. We are keeping everyone in Texas in our thoughts and prayers. Please let us know when you hear from Nikki. I sure hope she leaves, but I understand her reasons for staying.
Hugs, Annie, Daisy, Oscar, Bonita & Foster Furkid, Trooper
