Last one I read in one of the others was that Hallie was doing the Hallie Rally !!! Woo Hoo !!!! Hopefully DD can update here this morning to let us all know how Hallie BB is doing ! DD - a suggestion for the pumpkin - freeze ice cubes of the pumpkin and then just take one out each day - then you won't have to waste 1/2 the can - I used to do the same thing and someone, somewhere suggested freezing it.
Crossing all fingers and paws here in Texas that our Hallie is still feeling her oats this morning !! Let us know !
That's a good idea Barb. Now about the name of this ailment. If it is so rare as to not have a moniker, how about Hallie-tosis?
Oh, what that kinda taken...any other thoughts?
That's a good idea with the pumpkin Barb. Thanks I will do that. The steroids make her so extra hungry and thristy she searches for food a lot. Today is her first day of down to 1 pill and in 5 days she'll be off if all goes well. I've gotten her no salt rice cakes and made cylindrical ice cubes each with a couple of blueberries and peas in them to chew on. Her diarrhea is gone in fact she hasn't pooped in a couple of days now so I am going to go walk her around the yard here in a bit.
She is still looking pretty good this morning. But not to her normal self. I wish I could know if this is all to be expected at this point. It's not like she's recovering from surgery or anything. She still wants to sleep a lot. I try not to think of what the future might hold since it's largely a big unknown right now but at best it will drastically change our lifestyle and the things we used to normally do. But as long as I can keep her from pain, etc I can adjust to that. I am feeling much better after hearing it might not be syringemyelia. But it is something she will always have and will most likely continue having episodes. I just hope they don't keep getting worse. I still cant' quite believe this is all going on and how she got something so rare. Sheis the sweetest thing in the world and so fun loving she didn't deserve it. But I will certainly continue making her life with me the very best it can be! And right now she's comfortable and happy so that's great. I haven't been out of my pjs in 4 days (I have showered!) today though I think we'll venture out and go for a stroller ride she's starting to look a little more interested in goings on outside.
Mike we must have been posting at the same time I just saw your post. Oh gads leave it to me to get a disease named after my poor dog! :) You can bet the neurologists will be fighting over who gets their name on that one.
Been following the threads, but haven't posted due to my intense back and arm pain due to the pinched nerve/bulging disc. Been out of work for two weeks so far and it ain't over yet. Can really relate to those doxies with sore backs. The loss of Jasper didn't help, but we had him for 14 years, and his passing was peaceful. I'm glad Hallie is improving. A walk in the stroller sounds nice.
I'm meeting with a real estate lawyer in an hour, to get those Domingo's Garden covenants written up. Then we are home free and can put those lots up for sale............and then maybe we can pay off the chiropractor and vet.
Ooops, time to get the ice on the back, can't sit at a computer for long.
Been praying for Hallie.
Very good news !!!! A stroll will be good for you both. Keeping both of you in my prayers and sending bunches of Texas rays !!!! Hang in there mommy :thumb:
This is great news! We are still thinking of you and Hallie and sending rays! :comfort:
A stroll sounds good, but please don't try it in you PJ's, so not a good look.
Yes your lifestyle may have to change, but to have your sweet pea in it will make it worth the while.
Hugs and rays

Sounds encouraging DeeDee...I am SO glad that she is feeling better. Just hang in there and take it one day at a time.
As Roberta told me.... Baby steps are all that are required. Now for the big question... Are you taking care of you?

Dee Dee,
I'm just catching up on all that has happened with you and Hallie. I am so sorry to hear that you both have been put through such a difficult ordeal. The most recent news sounds very promising, and Chilie and I are sending rays and prayers that Hallie continues to improve. We hope that next week's appointment with the 2nd neurologist goes well and that you get a hopeful diagnosis.
  :comfort:

I am so glad that Hallie is continuing her recovery. I want you to know that the healing process is slow. Continued healing rays and prayers for you and your baby.

She is doing her best so far today. She is much more interested in doing things and not sleeping as much. We sat in the sun in the back yard for a while and I took her for a half hour stroller ride, then we sat on a bench and watched the world go by. I was afraid she'd be tired when we got home but she's been very alert and looks to be feeling good. I'm seeing more of "Hallie" today than I have in a while. She still is on steroids but we're down to 1 a day now. I've spent most of today sitting with her and rubbing her back or just next to her talking to her, looking out the window, etc.
Does anyone know if she would have had a tube down her throat when put under for the myelogram and CT scan and xrays? Her bark is still odd, higher and quieter than usual. Although she's barked at me several times today for the first time which was great to hear. I always would tell her you sure are bossy for such a little dog which would get her going more.
I am feeling better about this spell of this I am praying she will recover even more. Then I have to learn how to not stress too much waiting for future things. I get my own tests back tomorrow so if those turn out OK that will be a huge weight off too. I'm feeling much better about Hallie today though. I'm still worn right down to my socks though! Thanks so much for the encouraging words, I am hanging on them.
That is such good news! I was hoping you would post and let us know how you're both doing. Please let us know what your tests results are.
I'm thinking they do intubate when doing a myelogram - not sure, though.
Very Very glad to hear Hallie is continuing to do better she may not be herself for a few days we do not know if it may take them a day or so extra to recover from being on pain meds and the steroids. Heck when I had my Total Knee I was snockered for about 4 days.Give it a chance to get her brain re engaged. Now for you just remember if you do not take care of you who will take care of Hallie. I'm sure someone would care for her but I think that is a job you enjoy.

Glad to hear that Hallie is doing better. We knew she would pull through!
Well I am beside myself again, she really isn't feeling that well she just wants to sleep and she walks slow. I thought by now (day 8) on steroids she should be about back to normal as tomorrow is our last scheduled day for the pills. I just don't know what to do, if this were a disc problem I could understand it better but I don't have nearly enough information about what she does have. I just want to wake up from this it's such a nightmare.
I wanted to thank everyone who sent cards, that was SO nice and sure gave me some positive moments in some really dark days.
Hang in there dd - maybe she just overdid the last couple days? Give the doctor a call and let him and see if this is normal for the end of the meds......
Rays to Hallie and DD !
I'm with barb, adn let her sleep, its one of nature healers. It maybe what she is like without them and she'll be coming on slowly. Its better than her zooming around.
keep strong, we know its hard.
