Title: Update on New Pup
Post by: Lisa Frederick on March 04, 2008, 01:51:09 AM
Well it's been a ruff first week Brownie and I had a unique (to say the least) bonding experience around midnight of the 29 I was taking her out to potty before bed when I tripped and fell from the top of our porch (about 4 steps) I knew right away I had hurt my arm and she was yelping up a storm I was holding her when I fell and landed slightly on her. DH being more concerned about me put her in the house (after seeing she could walk fine) I got up slowly after being sure I hadn't broken my arm but knowing it was sore and I did something to it we went inside patched me up (had some skinned up knees) and debated on whether or not to take me to the ER.  Mean while Brownie had been sleeping in DH's lap when he went to pick her up she let out a yelp so we took a closer look at her and saw she was tender on her left side around her ribcage so I took her to the Emergency Vet they took X-rays and told us there were no broken bones but her lungs were bruised so she was given pain meds and antibiotics (to help keep her from getting pneumonia due to the trauma) we didn't get to bed till almost 4:00 am and I didn't go to the ER myself until after telling my Mother about everything and she insisted I go.  When I did go they took X-Rays of my left arm/Shoulder and told me I didn't break any bones but after examining me they felt I did sprain and have some separation of the AC Joint so my arm has been in a sling and I got some good pain meds. We are both doing better!!! Brownie has quit a personality to her and we are having lots of fun, Hunny is still trying to figure out how to co-exist with her as Brownie is very much a puppy and always nipping at Hunny and everyone and everything for that matter!!!!! Well I better stop before I write a novel. I'll share a couple of pics  the first pic is the first time they slept together and the second it snowed today and it's Brownie's first snow!!

Lisa - how scary !!!  SO glad neither of you broke anything......and glad that your mom made you go!  Take care of you and Brownie !!!  Sending lots of rays - keep us posted !!!

Crazy weather we are having, isn't it?  80 degrees Sunday, snow Monday and back up to 60 today (Tues) - LOL !!!  We got over 2 inches in Coppell, but it was beginning to melt this morning and will be gone by mid-morning as it warms up.

Lisa glad nothing was broken.  When I worked rescue someone told me to growl at the puppy when you say NO, just as a mother dog would.  It works pretty well with the pups when they bite, but guys like Eddie look at me and say WHAT!!!
