The wierdest thing happened when we went to the neurologist Thursday. When I posted on the other thread that we were heading down to Oregon to go, what I had done was call the clinic down there and asked if I could get her in to Dr. Skinner (what a name for a surgeon!). It was about 8:30 am. They said by some miracle they had an opening at 11. I said great I'll take it. Then the lady said I don't think you can get here from where you are in time, I better put you later as a drop off (which I didn't want because I can't stand anyone else carrying her or messing with her without me there but I had no choice). So I said ok, ran in and map quested the route, which took all of 4 minutes, saw that I had plenty of time to get there by 11, called the clinic back, a man answered and I told him the other lady said there was an open appointment at 11 and I could make it by then after all so please put me down for it. He said he would.
So I get there, 10 min to 11, and the lady at the desk said oh I'm sorry but between the two times you called here (4 minutes worth) I gave your 11 oclock appointment away. I was so upset, there was nothing else that day so they would have to take Hallie back alone, the vet would examine her back there then I'd go talk to the vet after. While I was standing there trying to talk her into somehow letting me have a regular type of appointment, I heard someone say "Dee Dee?????"
I turned and there was my dearest friend from down here where I live! We have been dog training friends for over 20 years, I had not done more than keep in short touch with her in 3 weeks because her Mom was ill and had just passed away so she had been down staying with her Dad and family in Oregon. She said later she had seen the "black and tan dachshund like Hallie" and then looked up to see me and couldn't believe her eyes. We both at the same time stared at each other then said "What are YOU doing here???" The lady behind the desk pointed to Trish and said to me "She is the one who took your 11 oclock appointment."
So she was there with Cooler, her sweet golden who was also having a bout of spinal problems. (his second...similar to what Kari's Penny went through). She had been at her Dad's for her Mom's funeral, etc who, which I did not know, lived only 5 minutes from the clinic (her sister lives 2 minutes from it).
So after we both got to talk to the vet, and our babies where in the back (they said Hallie was housed right above Cooler) Trish, her husband and I got to sit and stew together and keep each other from going nuts. I had planned to sleep in my van in the parking lot right outside the clinic door like I always did (Hallie and I have never been apart overnight and if something were to go wrong during the night I wanted them to be able to run out and knock on my window. Plus it comforts me to know she is right on the other side of that wall and I am as close to her as I can get.) But the vet said I promise nothing will happen to her tonight and you are only 5 minutes away we'll call you if it did. (PLUS Trish's cousin used to be married to the neurologist so she knows him well from family things! Her cousin passed away a couple of years ago).
So instead of tossing awake in my van all night, I tossed awake in a nice soft warm bed! We went out to dinner, and had a nice visit with her Dad and sister in their huge, gorgeous house on the hill with an amazing view. Trish got to bring Cooler home so he was with us but had to go back the next day. In the morning we both went to the clinic early and sat to wait for test results etc. We got them at the same time so we even got to leave together and she led me back to the freeway.
Even weirder is our dogs had such similar problems. They did a spinal tap on Cooler and the injected dye into Hallie's spinal cord so I was saying Hallie should donate some of her extra fluid to replace his. The two got sick the same day and are even pretty much recovering at the same rate. What were the odds of all this. It sure made my stay a LOT more bearable and go faster.
Here is a pic in the clinic of the two sporting their new doos, we now call them "Big Patch" and "Little Patch".
I think that is awesome. I, also, think that maybe the good Lord is looking out for you and your friend. There is always a reason for what happens, it just that we may not know it at that time.
Hope Hallie keeps getting better and better.
  and 's coming your way.

Yeah that is weird, but as I said God was watching over you and Wee one.
Yes Haillie you have joined the reverse moHawk group. Their skin looks so pale next to the dark coat, do you want me to send Amy's polar tech coat I made for her, as hopefully she will not need again.
I did not think Goldies got to spinal problems, over here its seems to be hip dysplasia.
Sending hugs adn rays

Glad to hear from you and you had physical support from a long time good friend so how is Hallie ? did they do a pain patch they use to do that on humans sometimes, did they find out the problem with Hallie ? Sure hope you and Hallie can get some much needed rest.

Nice to hear about the meeting with your old friend! :apls:
When in need angels just start appearing... :angel4: :angel4:
Hallie is lucky to have an owner like you!! :thumb:
Godspeed on recovery!!!
You can prolly take a breath now!
It is wonderful that you met your long time friend. God works in mysterious ways!!! Continued prayers for you and Hallie and your friend and Cooler.....
A perfect example of those above watching over you. That is too cool !
Now THERE'S an answer to prayer for you. I just signed on again.....after 2 days absence. This is the first post I've hit so I see the words "recovering" and am encouraged. Dee Dee, our heart is right there with you and Hallie. Now on to the other posts. I hope that I can read more optimism.
As your "Yiddishe Mamma" would say, "There are no coincidences!"
Tante Karen and The Herd
Here's the term I use to describe your experience...
Synchronicity is the experience of two or more events which occur in a meaningful manner, but which are causally un-related. In order to be synchronous, the events must be related to one another conceptually, and the chance that they would occur together by random chance must be very small.
I think your Jessie-Angel and all the doxie angels from this board are looking out for you and Hallie.

Some things are very strange. Your friend was at that clinic for a reason. I don't get the time to come to the dachshund boards at all anymore. Rob just told me he had accidentally clicked on the Wiener Writings link today and saw the news about Hallie. Please know that Tucker and I, Rob and Reggie, and Carter too are sending you lots of hugs and prayers.
Last year when Tucker went through his ruptured disc (turned out to be in his neck) surgery I thought I was going to lose my mind so many times. Through that process I met some amazing people who helped me through and your emails always gave me strength. Forgive me if you already have this information, but after having spent a lot of time at the neuro surgeons office I know the vet bills can add up. Some very nice people told me about a site called Care Credit. It a credit company that actually accepts costs for vet bills. They have several payment plans with no interest for up to 18 months. I will try to include the link here:

Again, know that you are in our thoughts and prayers my friend.
Take Care
