I had Hallie entered in a Dog Match today. She did really good in Rally (obedience) and had a ball. She ended up with a score of 94 (out of 100) with 4 points off for a mistake I did and the other 2 because on our "slow" she got silly jumped up on me which she has NEVER done. I thought it was hilarious, she was just playing and it was worth 2 points off. She won a mug with fun stuff in it.
I decided to then also enter her in Open B***h in conformation since she was still rarin' to go and she loves to be fussed over and do the "pretty" ring. I didn't have any nice clothes with me so just had to wear my scrubs from obedience. But she did really good there too and the judge asked me while she was examining Hallie on the table, where I got her because she loved her temperament. (she is very self assured and happy all the time and animated, not timid etc which many people were having problems with today...on little 4 lb chihuahua kept sneaking bites at her while we were talking to her owner, and Hallie would just pull her head back a little and stare like she thought the dog was just sneezing or something lol it's little nose was about the size of my thumb!) so I told her she's a pound puppy and that I knew her hair is not correct but we entered just because Hallie enjoys it.
Excuse my brag here but I'm just so proud of her :) in the end she got FOURTH in the class (over show bred dogs of all breeds) and the judge stopped when she pulled us out of the line for the placings and told everyone that this dachshund is a pound puppy and has an RN and a CD and a CGC and a Schutzhund title, and this is what you breeders should be striving for in temperament and soundness in your breeding programs, etc etc. By then I am bawling like a baby and hugging Hallie (here I go again!) and Hallie got a big applause. I was kneeling down with her at the time and she put her paws up on me and was giving me a million kisses. I love this kid with all my heart and soul! She definitely had a great day and so did I.
Here are a few shots from the breed ring a friend took with her point and shoot camera. The walls look so terrible because this building was in the flood zone and had water and mud about 6 feet up the walls so they are still in the process of repairing them.
She thought things were REALLY looking up with the hot dog sign! She didn't get any though...
When we came home she found a sun spot and is still snoozing away.
You got teary, try this side of the monitor. I'ts so nice to hear a judge agknowledge her in that way. Probably due partly to Ms H and the other is the person who is her alter ego.
Go kids go.
She looks as if she has had a ball.

YOU GIRLS ROCK!!! And I think the secret here is that you are about the only two who look like you are haiving a good time. It is true, though, what the judge said. Hallie is the gold standard for temperament and soundness. You have truly been blessed with this wonderful companion and we all thank you for sharing your love and successes with us. to you both!
p.s. Love the Hot Dog sign--would make a great greeting card!
Congrats Ladies :thumb:

The two of you have a wonderful relationship. It's obvious that Hallie wants to please her mom. As I looked at her pictures, I noticed that her top line seems to rise just a bit toward her hindquarters. Sophie has the same thing - more evidence that they really are sisters, I think.
Those are very nice pictures of you both! I'm glad that I finally got to see a picture of you Dee Dee!

Way to go, Hallie! You make your momma so proud! (Hey, DD - isn't that a new front door? I love the inset - is it stained glass? Did you design it, or was it a stock design? - Very cute!)
Way to go Hallie and DD! Hugs to you both!
Congratulations to both of you!!!! How wonderful.....Hallie and Dee Dee are WINNERS :headbang: :headbang:
Congratulation Hallie! What a special girl you are! You and your mama should both be so proud!

Thanks you guys. Things went from high to low this morning, she woke up crying in pain and I flew out of bed and rushed her to the vet. She is sleeping right now with meds and at least 2 weeks confined...man talk about hitting bottom. I am beside myself but the good thing is her motor functions are OK she is just in pain. I don't know if the bit we did at the match contributed but I don't think we'll be doing any more matches! One by one I keep having to cross the funnest things for her off our list. :( I HATE doxie back problems!!! Waiting right now for the vet to call with her blood results. :verdict:

The vet didn't get back with me on blood results today but they really won't tell us too much anyway as far as her back goes. I am a little concerned (More like OUT OF MY FRIGGIN' HEAD WORRIED) that she isn't that much better tonight. Earlier she was laying on her side sleeping and when I stood up (I am pretty much laying right next to her constantly rubbing her back or her belly or trying not to when she is sleeping and just staring at her) I could tell she wanted to roll upright and get up but she couldn't, she just lay there on her side with her eyes huge and scared and her head would move a little but then stop like ow I don't think I will try that. That is the motion she was making this morning too when she screamed. She has been up since and she does walk around (I am not letting her of course, but when out to go potty etc) she is just in pain. She has been sleeping a LOT. Which I guess is good just not like her. I can't beleive how fast this thing can hit when she was just feeling so good! But it's very good she has all her reflexes and can walk. The vet said it was her upper lumbar which it has been the last times as well. Hopefully she will be better in the morning and sleep good tonight.
You poor pair, after such a high. We're with you, so Ms H do as your told.
Please keep us informed and DON'T PANIC stay cool, and get some sleep to.

I hate to hear that you and Hallie are going through this again. We're sending many prayers and rays. Sophie says "do what Mom says and get well soon, sis."
How is she today DeeDee? Please let us know as soon as you can. You and Hallie are in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there... I cannot imagine how difficult this is for both of you.
OMG!!!! That is just the most terrible news!!!
Sending prayers your way big time!!! :angel4: :comfort:
All will be well, all will be well!!!
Would not think the Dog Match would have done anything to Miss Halie's back she would be happier doing things you both love to do than not doing anything. I sure hope her back will get better very, very soon heck when I'm on pain meds I sleep too.
