She's got a compressed disc/pinched nerve in her neck. Lots of pain and can't do anything. Please keep her in your prayers, she's hurting really bad, and seeing a chiropractor daily. She can't work either.
Oh no Patty, you poor thing. :bandaid: :bandaid: Do you have any medication for the pain? Just try to lay low and take care of yourself... let us know how your doing. I'll keep you in my prayers.
Oh No!! So sorry! Rays headed your way!
There's no pain medication they can give for this. The doc told me today that I should start feeling better in a day or two. Both the doc and the radiologist came to the same conclusion. The doc is optimistic. I, however, feel like I'm dying.
Ouch! Sending major rays your mom's way.
BTW -- I heard that a dachshund neck brace works wonders!
OUCH!!! Sending rays your way, Patty. Have you tried a dachshund wrap around your neck to get some deep heat on it :wink3:
Don't make me laugh, it hurts when I laugh!!!
Oh big ouch, Patty!! Hope your feelin better soon... And, it's true, a doxie's heat can cure anything, even my migraines... Try it, really.... Take good care of you momma Willy & Alex.. And, Pattey, you just take care of yourself and get better... Rays, Hugs & Puppy Kisses on the way to you....
Sorry to hear about your neck hope it will not last too long for you. may sound crazy but have you tried Ice for the pain when my disk herniated Ice helped more than anything it may just be me.

Patty my friend, feel better soon, huh? At least YOUR doc came to the conclusion that something truly is wrong in the neck. Every doc I see says my pain is all in my head. At any rate, I have 2 sizes of elizabethan collars(aka lamp shades)....one Dolly size and one Maddie size. Shall I pack up one for ya?

Been doing lots of ice.
instead of a chiro see a rheumatolgist, or diagnostic GP, being realy kinda  it maybe an age thing, some things should not be manipulated. I have degenerated neck discs and went my rheumatolosgist who suggested a physio, who specialised in necks and backs . Maybe you are not in the same wave band, but be careful, and relax which is big part of it,
Roberta

Oh Patty, we are used to hearing this about the doxies on the board but not the humans. It sounds horrible, why can't they give you pain meds? There are things that work with the pupppers...? So sorry...I hope you are feeling better really soon, have you had this before? Keep resting and keep the boys close.
Patty,
When we had our wreck a couple of years ago, the whiplash (that I didn't know I had gotten until a few months later) caused a lot of damage to the vertabrae in my neck. This has caused some nerve compression problems. It is worse somedays than other, but one advantage I've had so far is I haven't had the intense days of pain. Most of mine is referred pain to the shoulder blade and some weakening of my left arm. I'll eventually do surgery, but not until I have no other choice. I do PT twice a week and it helps tremendously. I have seen a chiropractor because the area is so fragile and I decided to stick with keeping the muscles relaxed and stretched.
If you have this problem often, there is a home traction device you can use, when you feel the problem is creeping up on you. It isn't cheap, but some insurance will cover it (not ours, of course) and it is cheaper than missing work. Mine is called Home-Trac. Also, anti-inflammatory medications help a lot, even if it is only Aleve or Advil since they decrease the swelling in the area where the compression is occuring. I hope this helps. It is amazing how much I have learned in the last year and a half or so. We were treating mine as an injury to the shoulder blade before a doctor I was referred to realized it was cervical instead. Let the pups take care of you. If nothing else, they are GREAT company. Oh, and those memory foam pillows, the ones that have the little dip in the center, are WONDERFUL!!!
Patty - Healing rays from Massachusetts! Take care!!!
