Title: sittin at my desk watching the snow fall
Post by: Leslie on February 12, 2008, 11:38:50 AM
and I have NO work to do.  Arrrgh.  Just wanna get home and get my DH home and batten down the hatches.

Last time it snowed I did well getting home but then wiped out in my driveway.  My biggest fear is that I will slide backwards down the damn driveway and all the way down the hill.  ( half mile, thank you) Cripes.  Snow makes me nervous.

Sed it before and will say it again:  "It ain't the driving, it's the stopping"

we both got in during the window after the snow and before the freezing rain.  Good thing I got that bag of salt yesterday and DH got home before me and salted the drivewway.  Nothing left for tommorrow morning, though.. yikes

Snow better than Ice anyday does your car have Drive 3 or 4 on it found out works much better. Slid though a red light got home took my car book in the house and read all about the driving in bad weather it sure helped me.

OMGosh I bet THAT scared the poop   outta you! I used to drive manual and even though that car was about as solid as a coffe can on wheels, I still miss the control of manual transmission.  (Zoom zoom zippy little Honda with 192,00 miles on it)

Actually I am pretty good at driving in the stuff but people sometimes think that having AWD magically makes all the OTHER drivers drive more slowly and sanely.  :verdict:
THIS morning the weather is no better only now it is rain and because of the slush piled up on the sides of the road the water has no where to go but the middle of the road.  Yikes.

Now my co-worker is out so I have to take the company van out in this **** to get to the post office.

Later this morning I have a doctor's appointment and get to have needles jabbed into my neck and shoulder.  It's a great day, I'm tellin' ya.

I have a 5 speed manual Eclipse and it isn't near as snow-worthy as my automatic mini-van.  I use the low gears on the van to take advantage of engine braking when it's icy.

Have fun playing porcupine later...

Les - be careful out there !!!!  I can't imagine driving in that stuff for weeks at a time.... we ususally have just a couple bad days.  My last 2 Chevrolets have been great on the ice.... luckily a lot of Texans stay at home when the ice appears !
