As most know Amy had surgery in August for the ususal Dachie complaint. Prior to this she was not really a happy camper when it came to walks..........read couch potato.
She is doing really fine no problems, but I think I'm being worked as we were told by physio to add a house block to her walk every week and to expect it to take a year to get up to her old (resented) walk lengths.
To-day we took them to their (OLiver's) favourite walk 3 mins in she sits down and stares back from where we came, over the past few weeks I've picked her up and let her walk for 2ooyds then pick her up, then put her down for a further walk. Well to-day I ignored her and walked and she eventually got the hint, walk, and it would be over sooner, then we passed a dog behind a window, and boy oh boy you should have seen her pick up speed and interest.
Question, does anyone else have this problem and am I being taken for a duh. (keep in mind I would not let her go for a hour walk or steep hills etc)

hmmmmm....smart little puppy dogs...aren't they!! We didn't have this problem with Penny post-op since she always liked to go for walks. I think she was so glad to be out of confinement! We did the same thing with adding a little more distance each week.
I think she's working you, Roberta! LOL! Amy...walking is fun...try it, you'll like it! Gretchen loves walks and was more than ready when she got to the point where she could spread her wings.
Guinness considers all forms of movement a waste of energy. The neighbor children often ask to take him on a walk. They always return him within three minutes because h refuses to move and must be dragged. I tell hem to carry him until they get to the tun around point in the walk and then put him down. He trots home as quickly as possible comes in, plops down and falls immediately into a coma!!!

I think she has you trained mom !!! When it is real cold here - Brandy will turn around and go back to the big bed when I open our front door. She does NOT want to go outside. The last couple really cold mornings, I have suited Rudy up and wrapped Bran in my coat and set her down a couple times to potty while Rudy got his walk in.
