I don't know why it is, but ever since her bout of throwing up back in November, Chilie has been so demanding when it comes to her food. She will bark at me and bark at me until I feed her. Even after she eats, she'll end up barking at me a little while later. I feed her 1/4 cup in the morning and 1/4 cup in the evening...around suppertime. I had her checked for parasites when we went to the vet, and the test came back negative. I just don't know why she's taken to being so barky about her food. But, you know, she's got me trained well.....when she barks, I feed! But only if it's time.
Is she just getting more demanding the older she gets? This morning she got to Lara's toast that was on the coffee table. She must have rrrrreeeeeaaaaached really good, because I thought I had put it far enough back that she couldn't get to it. Guess I was wrong!
Oh, and after she was sick, I switched her food from the Solid Gold Mmillennium to the HundNFlocken formula. Could that make a difference? Do you think I should increase the amount of her food? Currently, she's between 10 and 11 pounds, which I think is perfect for her, so I'm not sure that increasing her food would be a good idea. Any suggestions/insight/advice? Thanks.
you are being trained. Don't let it happen. What a big fat pain in the *** it is. Ask my DH! Loki will NOT leave him alone because he is like the chewie/treat "please shut up" vending machine.

It does sound like she is training you, but I can't help but wonder about the difference in the food. I wonder if the HundNflocken has less fat content and isn't filling her up. The timing would make you think so. Will she eat green beans so you could add them or give them to her extra? Look into the foods and see what the difference is, and if they are the same, add the beans if she will eat them.
Here's an update....
I did the research.
Both foods has a minimum of 22% protein. MMillenia has a minimum of 12% fat and 387 calories per cup. HundNFlocken has a minimum of 10% fat and 367 calories per cup. Doesn't seem like a lot, but it could make a difference to Chilie.
Penny knows when it is time to eat but she doesn't bark at all...she just sits and stares at the cabinet where the food it! She is always in the kitchen begging! If it isn't her time to eat I just ignore her...so hard sometimes!!!
A demanding dahcshund?   Hmmm...I just can't picture it. :whip2: :whip2: :whip2:
Thanks everyone. Leslie, you crack me up! "Please shut up vending machine".....that sounds about right! :2funny:
Kari, seems like Penny is taking the passive-aggressive approach...
Teresa, thank you for doing that research. That is interesting....maybe the 20 calorie and 2% fat difference is noticeable to Chilie. I'll try the green beans.
Clifford: Don't serve my dinner kibble without green beans!!!!!!!
Rudy is the same demanding way. And it has just happened in the last couple years. I swear he knows what time it is to the minute !!!! This month is really busy at work, so I have been working late each night. I have a dog walker that comes about 4:30 and walks and then feeds the doggies dinner (earlier than the normal 6:00 time).
I came home early yesterday because I had an exterminator coming and was working at my desk and at EXACTLY 4:30 Rudy was sitting staring at me and doing the low whining Too funny !
When I am in the kitchen getting their meals....He is right there barking at me to hurry !!
I feed Rudy Hundenflocken also and he gets 1/4 c in the morning and at night. He is around 13 lbs. Periodically I will add carrots or green beans.
Rudy Amy here, I'm totally with you, you really havet o TELL them to hurry dinner up, we just cannot get good servants nowadays.
Amy small, hairy, AND very self opionated when it comes to FOOD................................... coming to think of it, its nearly din time, better go and hastle mum..............Bye
