My brother has the shiz-tzu schnauzer mix that is now 14 weeks old and an xpen type of confinement would be perfect for him when they aren't going to be in the same room or home for a long while, but don't need him having run of the house. I saw this on Collections, etc. and wonder how sturdy it would be. Two of them would only be 40.00. They are on a tight, after-Christmas budget, and I might offer to buy one if they buy the other. I will admit that their pup reminded me of just how stubborn doxies are at housebreaking. When you take him out, he doesn't get distracted. He seems to be able to REMEMBER why he is outside! He still has an accident inside occasionally, but I told my brother his is one lucky person! Now they are trying to figure out how to teach him to go to the door when he needs to go.

I don't know.....I think the little guy would be able to get out underneath if he was determined. This particular pen looks like its fairly lightweight.
I agree with Patty also the legs look as if one good head butt and the thing would topple over.
That's what I was thinking, too. Their best choice might be to get one of the wire crates instead of the hard side one he has right now. It has worked great so far, but he will soon outgrow it, and will probably be happier in the other. Once he is housebroken, the larger size shouldn't be a problem.
I agree.....it seems like he could get his front end under the bottom of it and lift it straight up and wiggle through.
I think might would be determined on the IQ of said fur kid, ie Oliver would just sit there, Amy would find a way out.
But I think if it was onto a base.

Oliver here are you saying I'm a bit doo lally MUM
Mum Yes Oliver you are
I have a feeling he will be a smart one, or at least a determined one. He is a sweet boy, though. Here are a couple of pictures from about 3 weeks ago. You should have seen him with the large Bobo I gave him for Christmas. I had to make sure he had something noisy-after all, he is my brother's dog and I'm always looking for ways to get even for all those things he did when we were growing up!
He is awfully cute! I agree on the X Pen though, it looks pretty flimsy and I'll bet he'd get right out of it, those are one of the things you get what you pay for and will end up paying more if you buy a flimsy one you cant' use and then have to get another. I'd get a pretty tall one too just in case he is a climber. Delia and Ron's Ilsa can climb over X Pens like a little rock climber!
Teresa tell your brother to hang some bells on what ever door they use to take him outside ring the bells each time he goes out,he should soon catch on to ring the bells to go outside. Yes sometimes they ring the bells just to go out to play but that will pass.

Other things I've bought from collections were kind of on the flimsy side.
