Here are some pictures of our Christmas. Skeeter and Longfellow really loved playing with their toys. Boone doesn't exactly play with toys, but he likes hanging out with them and just seems to enjoy the fact that he has toys.
The Jim Shore figurine is a gift from my sister. She bought it last year at a post Christmas sale. She must be psychic, and you shall see when you read the name off of the label LOL!
I couldn't fit all the pics in the first post, so here are the figurine and its label.

Yes, Boone is really a dachshund! He was rescued from a volume breeder at age 8. Despite living in a kennel for most of his life, he really has no ghosts from his past and loves the life he has now. Boone is a double dapple, a pattern that should never be bred. Most double dapples have vision and/or hearing problems. Some are completely blind and deaf. Boone is deaf, and his pupils are a bit irregular in shape, but he seems to see pretty well except when things are very close to him. In other words, he can see me beckon to him from across our yard, but can't find a treat in front of his face!
Double dapples are usually bred as kennel stock for breeding. This is done strictly for greed. Dapple coat patterns are very popular are rare, and occur when a dog inherits the merle gene from one parent. Buyers will pay more for a dapple because of their unusual markings. Dapples, which have only one merle gene, are as healthy and normal as any other dachshund. Double dapples occur when a dog inherits the merle gene from both parents. Because the dog carries the double merle gene, when it is bred with a none dapple every dog in the litter will be a dapple, increasing profits for the breeder. The breeder does not care that the double dapple may be deaf and blind, because it's a money maker.
So dapple -- okay! But if there is a double dapple in the line, then you are dealing with a heartless and unscrupulous breeder, IMHO.

What great pictures Jeri! You have beautiful furkids!!! That statue is almost eerie! (and very cute!!) I have a wooden block thing I used to set up with a crossbar years ago at art shows, (like 20 years ago). I brought it out to set plates on at the last bow wow here and saw there is a sticker on it that says "Hallie". I have NO idea how that got there, I had not used the block or moved it in all that time and it wasn't in a spot where someone could have stuck it on there. It was made for me by an older couple but the woman's name wasn't Hallie. :dontknow:
