Mel,
That is EXACTLY what dad (my father-in-law) is dealing with right now.  He works for Fed Ex and he said he had to look through packages and decide which ones needed sent immediately and which could wait. He said, if it was a Christmas present I set it aside.  We need to get the medical supplies and perishable items out first.   So basically, they have so many packages they have to make a judgement call about which ones to wait on and which ones to send out that day.

He has a LARGE route and he ended up working from 6 am to 7 pm yesterday and plan to work until 9pm this evening.

I just can't remember the last time it was like this. With all the online shopping done now there has to be a bunch that won't make it. I just really feel sorry for the youngsters that don't understand why Santa didn't make it. I have no idea what I would say to my kids. What tell him Santa over slept or something? LOL

Your father-in-law sure has a job!! All those long hours. Does he have to work on Christmas?

He might get lucky and have Christmas Day off but he's working all day Christmas Eve and the day after.

All the mail and package handlers really earn their keep this time of year.  I feel for them.  I certainly don't mind when an unexpected package shows up late on my door step after Christmas.  I just finished some online shopping and shipping.  The items probably won't get there in time, but hopefully they will cheer someone when they do.
