Amy had to rush Ozzy to the animal hospital yesterday morning. He has been diagnosed with hemorrhagic gastritis. They put him on IV fluids and watched him overnight. This morning, at 10:00, they fed him to see if he could keep it down. He did, so they are going to feed him at 2:00 p.m. (CST), and if he keeps this down, we can go get him yet today.
It just kills me that he is all the way across town, by himself, because I am suffering from gastritis myself and had to stay home from work. I can't tell you how scared I was all night, worrying about our little guy.
It also kills me that I did not notice the signs before; now that I know was is wrong, I should have noticed the signs - loose stools, occasional puking, and the darker-that-usual pee. I just thought he had gotten into something that did not agree with him, which is usual around this household. :doah:
You can bet I'm going to be more careful with him, and if I start to feel as if something is wrong, he is going to the vet right away, no more of this "waiting and see" bull.
So, rays would be appreciated, not only for his continued recovery, but that, since the vet said this may recur, we will notice the signs quicker and avoid having poor Ozzy ailing as much as he did this time.
So sorry to hear that Ozzy is in the hospital :comfort: Immediate   for a quick recovery so that you can pick him up tonight. I am sure everything will be okay. Don't be upset with yourself.
Rays coming from Nebraska!! Poor Ozzy!! I hope you can bring him home today to be with you. I am sure he will recover better in your arms!! Please keep us posted.

Oh Gosh!
Sending loves of love and healing rays for poor Ozzy. Please don't beat yourself up about not recognizing the signs right away. Trust me I've practically driven myself crazy over such things and its not worth it. The important thing is that they know whats wrong and are treating it. Please keep us updated how he is doing..
sending hugs your way,
Dawn
He is now resting comfortably on his blankie on the couch. I have to give him meds and feed him special food for a couple of days, but they expect Ozzy to be recovered in a couple of days. I'll have to stay home a little while tomorrow morning to care for him, then Amy will be home to take care of him as well.
I'm feeling better from my attack of gastritis. Just holding Ozzy made a lot of things better.
Thank goodness that both of you are OK. Take care of each other. Keep us posted.

Whew! How scary!! Sorry I'm late....not a lot of puter time lately. Continuing rays to Ozzy. Hope he's up and frisky very soon.
Oh my goodness! I'm so glad Ozzy is doing better!! :apls: Please don't blame yourself. It is NOT your fault that he was so sick. :comfort:
Wonderful that Ozzy is back home and in your arms.....Glad you are feeling better too.....take care of yourselves!!!
Wonderful news. Both of you on the mend!! Yeah!! I will continue with my prayers for a speedy recovery!! I am sure just like you are feeling better having Ozzy in your arms so is he!!
I'm glad Ozzy is home. I hope he feels better soon, and you too. Will keep you guys in my prayers.
How are you an Ozzy feeling today??? I really hope that you two are getting your rest and feeling just fine. Gastritis is no fun, Porky just had a bout of that a few months ago, although his doesn't sound as severe as poor Ozzy's was. Please keep resting and take your time getting better. We're all thinking of you and sending your prayers and rays!
Ozzy is doing very well. He is eating voraciously, and fighting me every step of the way when it comes to taking his medications. We were worried, for a while, that he was not drinking his water. After a little play with Amy last night, he did go to his bowl and drink, so we feel better about that. His eyes are bright and his tail almost never seems to stop wagging.
He does kinda stink, so I'm thinking of giving him a bath tomorrow. Would that be too soon after the trauma of being in the hospital?
I'm doing OK, back at work. Am watching what I eat, which is hard at this time of the year.
Mindy, as far as the bath goes, how does the site look where he had the IV fluids? I don't know. I think maybe I would wait for the week-end if I could.
Wow you guys have been through a LOT! Very scary...I am glad to hear you are both feeling better. Funny you both came down with it at the same time, could it be connected somehow? Yes you will know what to watch for next time, but hopefully there won't be a next time! Take care of both of you!
How is Ozzy doing did he get to come home for Christmas hope he is feeling better sending extra rays to him even if they are a little late.
