Just read the news aabout the shooting in Omaha? Everyone we know and love is accounted for?

I heard about this just before I left work. This shakes me up a bit because I worked at that mall for total of six years. I put myself through college working at the Younkers store, and worked there again when I was saving money to pay for our wedding. There has never been much trouble there, and I always felt safe there. After working there so long, it almost felt like home. This is so tragic.
It is just so crazy think about this happening! I hope everyone is okay!
I cried when I heard the news. It was so sad. My husband and I LOVE to go to that mall when we visit Omaha. I live on the other side of the state, but it hit me pretty hard. Anyone heard from Mel??? She lives in the Omaha area....so I'm hoping she didn't go shopping there today. I'm going to email her and see if she's okay. :pray:
Sometimes you just have to wonder what is wrong with the world. So many horrible things going on, I just heard about this one, really awful.

I am here! Didn't go shopping yesterday at that mall. I was close to it though. Decided to go home and get ready for an early dinner instead! I didn't even hear about it until I turned on the 5 PM news to check the weather! I work at one of the hospitals that have victims. I am sure it is going to be crazy here today. There is a counseling group here for anyone that wants to come in and talk. So I am sure it will be full most of the day. Really scary that holiday shopping turns into this. Last I heard that they still haven't announced all of the victims. What really gets me about this is the kid told a few people that he didn't want to live anymore. He was really troubled and no one did anything to help him!!
It is just tragic. Glad our Nebraskans are checking in. My mom was a cornhusker from many years ago - she would be really sad about this.
I was just listening to the news on the radio and heard the latest. Glad everyone here is OK. It really is scary what this world is coming to. Very sad. Christmas will be a reminder for those people every year.
Even up here in Alaska we have crap like that going on. A guy in the town next to us just went nuts with a machete and killed his father and severely injured the father's girlfriend. Read the story, here, and about the dog that saved the girlfriend.......

I have been reading more about this story, and the more I read the angrier I get. The thing that really set me off were the comments from the woman that the 19 year old shooter lived with. He had been kicked out of his parents home about a year ago because he didn't like their rules, lived in a group for awhile, a then lived with his friend's family. The friend's mom talked about his drinking problem and how he smoked pot in his room, and how he showed her the gun he used the night before the killings. DOESN'T THIS IDIOT HAVE AND STANDARDS OR RULES IN HER HOME WHATSOEVER! Then she talked about what a good kid he was, how he was sensitive and gentle, but when she heard about the murders she immediately suspected him. I don't know about you guys, but when something this ugly happens I don't suspect the GOOD KIDS I know. God save us from the do gooders!
I agree Jeri, there was on boy that was on all the stations last night being interviewed. He said he was his friend and that he was cool and a great guy. Didn't think he had a problem at all. He was also laughing when the camera was on him right before they interviewed him. He said when asked how he was dealing with the situation "I thought about it, got bummed for a few seconds and then said oh well life goes on" !!! He also made a comment about how is is famous now and got what he wanted!! I don't think he was a friend of his at all. Maybe met him a couple of times. Just wanted to get the publicity out of it. And the woman that he lived with keeps adding to the story!! It has made a lot of people around here really angry. She tries to come off that she was helping him. She didn't. She allowed him to continue to live with her while doing all this stuff. A good kid does not do what he did. He was arrested not that long ago as well. Even though he told a lot of people he did not want to live anymore, no one stepped up. That is one of the warning signs and he was ignored! He stopped his medication as well. This all could have been avoided if the people he lived with would have been more responsible I think. It is just a very sad story. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the victims families sue over this.
Every time we see one of these on the news I just hope none of you are in trouble. It is sad he did not want to live, but why take the other innocents.
I am glad I live in a country where guns (most of them) are illegal, it takes one method of killing of the radar.
