Title: Carpet Pot Holes...
Post by: Sadiesmom on November 25, 2007, 05:52:02 PM
Any of you guys have carpet pot holes? Sadie has eaten 3 places now in my carpet pulling out the carpet trying to get down to the pad??? and she is leaving me potholes. I dont know what to do with her to get her to stop! Im renting and the landlords are gonna spank me and her both. They are small so far, about the size of half dollars. Thankfully she has a small long skinny nose. lol. And the pad matches the carpet somewhat, but I have to break her of this asap. Am I doomed to live in throwrug  h@%l?  Then she just eats the edges off the throw rug. Is there something I can put down or spray or powder or something that will stop her from digging holes in my carpet?

HELP!!!!!   :BangHead: :doah: :BangHead: :dontknow:

My Zoe did that when she was a puppy (before a year old).  I have two small holes in the carpet that I conveniently hide with something on top of them.  She quit on her own when she got out of that puppy stage.  How old is Sadie?  I don't remember.

I know that they sell the bitter apple spray and that worked for Penny. The site says it is for feet biting and hot stop licking but we sprayed it on the furniture and the base boards (her favorites) and had no problem.

Sadie is 9 months old. So hopefully we are on the tail end of her digging holes in the carpet.

I will check out the bitter apple spray too. Thanks so much.

I agree with Kari - bitter apple broke Ilsa of chewing on the baseboard. She just chewed on one area in the kitchen, but she was doing some pretty good damage to that one area!

If they still make both kinds, there is Bitter Apple for skin, and Bitter Apple for furniture - I have used both!

Crated when not under supervision on a leash when you are at home with her so you can give a correction for chewing on the carpet.

Thank you. Yes I do crate when not home and she does stay with me when I am. But I dont keep her on a leash the whole time. I have a 12 year old disabled child and its just not feasible to have her under foot all day long. I have to carry my child to and from.. and diaper, tube feed etc.. So leashing her all the time is not the answer either. But thanks for at least giving your opinion.

Emma done it once and Nick went APe ^%$#^% at her and I think the body language frightened the bejesus out of her and she never tried it again, went on to documents, and her own blankets.
she maybe bored or something could have been spilt on the carpet.
