Hi I'm Lisa.
I'm mama to two wonderful mini doxies.
Dottie is 2yr old (Im not sure the correct term. I've heard dapple but she is reddish/tan with black tips)
Frankie 6 mo old - black&tan with small grey dapple spot on his neck and white spot on his chest
Dottie is the ruler & guard of the house. She orders everyone around. She's very independent but was very sweet with me. Then when we got Frankie she went even more independent.
She has intestinal problems which we are narrowing down to intollerance of meat proteins. UGH!
Frankie is the typical lick your face, I'm ok with what ever you want, lets eat!, sweetest little guy.
He's so laid back but has found that he loves to hunt squirrels & rabbits. Mommie was bad & let
him go after a cotton tail on a walk one evening & he's been hooked since. ;-)
They are both only tollerated by our Kitty, Mickey. He was quite insulted by yet another dog arriving.
Our tiny bird just takes it all in.
I also shared with my family a standard red when I was very young & a mini black & tan in my 20's.
They were outstanding members of our family.
I've never shown or raised dogs. I just love them. I've been asked to let Frankie stud since he
is UKC but I haven't made a decision yet. The vet says it will change his personality.
His dad was one of the friendliest dogs I've ever met (his mom was just like Dot -ruler!)
Still thinking on it. Dottie has been fixed. Her parents were AKC but the owner's didn't order papers
so I didn't bother either. I wanted a pet & after going through births with our doxie as a kid I wasn't
up for all of that. Plus I'd never want to give them up. ;-)
I'll post some pics when I get a chance from home.
I really liked the site & look forward to one with some activity.

Glad to see you here - this is the BEST group of doxie lovers...and a bottomless pit of helpful information !!! We love pictures and stories and look forward to hearing about your kids.

I live in Coppell Texas, a suburb of Dallas and the rulers of our roost are Rudy and Brandy, both black and tan mini smooths - both rescues. I am nuts about these kids !!!!

Welcome! Both dachsies sound real cute. I have heard red with black tips called red sable (but I am no expert).

I read in your profile that you live in VA Beach. Stay safe and dry tonight and tomorrow! The new hurricane looks like it may visit you all. I am up late tonight because my ex-mother-in-law and my ex-husband and his girlfriend are on the way here from the outter banks! With them also comes the 2 mini poodles from :evil: , I really hope their stay is short. They bark at the big dogs and George and Grace try to eat them when they bark! It is going to be an interesting next day or so! :doah:
I am crossing my :xfinger: that the storm picks up speed and heads out to sea quickly! :pray:
Okrakok (not spelled right) Island and Hatteras are under mandatory evacuations, as are parts of Manteo. Mother in law lives in Manteo, near the airport, on low ground by the sound, so she said storm was slow moving dumping much rain, so she left. My ex now lives in Kill Devil Hills, and didn't want his Mom to travel alone up here with dogs, so they are all coming! I have a place in Hatteras, near the lighthouse, hurricane shutters are closed and it's on stilts, I :pray: the water doesn't get too high. Best wishes and hope it goes out to sea, before getting to VA Beach!

Hi, my husband and I are owned by donuT. A 20 month old mini smooth red male doxie. He seems to be exactly like your Frankie except, unlike a typical doxie he DOESN'T eat to excess and is really fussy with his food? :idiot:

I am owned by three dachsies. Buelah, my two year old gorgeous long hair black and tan girl, Oscy, her biological brother from the next litter. He is a little over one year old and a smooth red boy....the comic in the family. Our newest addition is Toby who our vet tells us is a three year old boy. He is also a smooth red. Toby was rescued from New Orleans and came to us the day before Katrina. He's our sweet little blessing.
This is a great place to get all sorts of information. I found this when Buelah first came home. All sorts of incredibly knowlegable people and lots of fun!
