Title: What's up with all this Wheezing?
Post by: Sandishooligans on November 09, 2007, 11:32:12 PM
I'm wondering if this is a side affect of the itch meds that Maddie is taking....we're slowly tapering off and will be done next week.  Seems that now she'd developed a very pronounced wheeze.  It sounds like she has asthma!  She seems to be okay with it, but it sounds awful.  Do any of our pups here sound wheezy?  Maddie IS 10 years old.  Could this possibly be a li'l ol' lady thing?

Brandy wheezes when she is sleeping.    You may want to touch base with your vet - just to be sure that this isn't a side effect that is permanent.  Let us know !!!    The Maddaroo just can't catch a break, can she?  Smoochies to our Maddie !

Porky Wheezes when he is having an allergic reaction to something. So, I would definately get it checked out by a vet just to make sure the wheezing isn't a side effect or a reaction to the medicine.  Keep us posted.

I think she IS having a reaction of some kind.  She's just puked up about 3 times in 15 minutes.  Now all is quiet and NO WHEEZING.  I think we're through with the antibiotics.  She was fine with them for about 10 days but now I think they should stop, even though we still have some in the bottle.  I'll keep ya'll posted, but for now, she seems calm and is napping.

PS....I was the HERO mommy and took one of the barfs on the pants.  Better to throw the pants in the wash then scrub the couch.

Oh Poor Maddie!!   That defiantely sounds like an allergic reaction or intolerance.  I would definately at least mention it to your vet on Monday that way they don't give her that kindof medcinein the future.  I think you are wise to stop giving her that medication.

You definately get the hero mom award!   Yuck!  I think I would have saved my couch too.     I hope her little tummy feels better soon!   No more pukyies for her I hope.

Poor baby! How long has she been doing this? I hope it's resolved by now.

LOL on the pants barf! You're right, though...easier to wash pants than sofas.

Before the barfies, Maddie seems restless and lots of wheezing.  After it was out of her system, she seems comfortable and is presently napping with no wheezing.   Before, I thought she just  didn't like her food (CA Natural)....it's NEW for us.)  I betcha that she'll have no problems tonight.  Gonna go slow with the food though.  Thanks Doxielady for suggesting that she might be having a reaction to the meds.  I think you were TOTALLY right. :thumb:  We'll keep an eagle eye out though for anymore funny stuff.

PS....Barf cleaning tip of the day.  Watkins NATURAL dish soap (lavender)  really did the cleanup job well.  Worked better than the carpet stuff I have used before.  Just a li'l dab will do ya.   :apls:

We all feel alot better after we barf.  I agree with you, stopping the antibiotics.  Poor Maddie's body is say ENOUGH!  Poor little girl, she has been through so much lately.

Thank you all for your loving concern for my little one.  She seems all tired out tonight and is presently snoring (not wheezing) on her papa's lap.  She ate a little dinner earlier that included some of her favorite...BROKLI!  Hopefully her little appetite will improve tomorrow, but I don't think she'll ever warm up to the CA Natural sweet potato/herring.  Good thing it was just a little bag.  I'll mix it back in with her old Innova but eventually I'd like to start her on the EVO, which she really seemed to like, especially the beef flavor.   :xfinger: for NO MORE URPIES!

Thank you for asking about Madderoo.  She seems to be feeling a bit better today.  No urpies.  She is still refusing to eat the new CA Natural food.  I think she's telling me she is NOT a kitty cat (herring and sweet potato).  Sooooooo......I fixed her up a nice mixture of pumpkin, white rice and mashed up hamburger patty I had in the fridge.  She LOVED it.  For tonight's supper, I added a few Innova crunchies to the mix.  She won't eat those plain but she ate them in her hash.  Right now she is snoozed out with her papa.  Hopefully she will continue to feel better and I'm hoping the itches don't come back.

How scary Sandi. I am glad it all turned out OK. Poor little Doe Eyes! We hope her itchies don't come back to. Itchies can be so frustrating to treat!
