Title: Rumbling Tummy?
Post by: MindyKay on November 09, 2007, 01:36:19 PM
I didn't know dogs....um....burped!!!  Anyway, Amy was down yesterday and she told me that she thought Ozzy had an upset stomach.  When I put my head to his tummy, it was definitely rumbling like mine does when I eat something that does not agree with me.  However, he never threw up, and his poops are normal-looking. I feed him a combination of Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance food roll (cut-up), with Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance canned food.  I wouldn't think that would upset his tummy.

Amy did admit she fed him a little piece of BBQ pork......

Anyway Ozzy never acted like he was sick, and with exception of an allergic reaction to one of his vaccinations, he has never been sick.  How can you tell if a dog is not feeling well?

Porky burps a lot when his tummy is hurting.  It is kind of comical cause when he burps or hiccups he gets this horrified look on his face and quickly checks out his tummy.    :2funny:   He really freaks when he makes another bodily noise from the nether region. Thankfully, he doesn't do that often.     It could be that the barbequed pork made his tummy hurt.  I'm not sure.  But, yes they do burp and hiccup.

Porky seems to get the hiccups more in the morning or late at night.    :dontknow:

I hope Ozzy's tummy isn't rumbly today.

I was always told by my vet never to give pork bones or meat to the dogs. I forgot to tell by boyfriend that and he made ham soup with the shanks and thought they would be good to give the dogs!! NOPE I was up all night with them throwing up and major poopies!! And both of their tummies rumbled like crazy.

As for burping, Mimi does after every time she eats, unfortunately she likes to share and also get some help, so she climbs up on my lap and when I pet her or pat her back she burps!! At first I thought it was gross but now it has become a ritual that I look forward to. Weird uh? I have never heard Tuttle burp yet though. He just gets the hicups alot.

My Dolly was a CHAMPEEN burper!  That sweet grrrl really knew how to project.  And when she belched, it started at the base of her tail and she would stretch out her neck to get the best burp for the buck.

LOL - my Brandy burps !!!!   When I sit down, she will run up the ramp and sit facing me - I rub and scratch her and tell her how beautiful she is....and then she will settle down next to me and snooze.   Lots of times she will burp in my face !!!   Periodically both of them have rumbling tummies and I always wait to see if anything is going to come out either end !!!!  I know my kids really don't feel well when their tails are tucked and head droopy.

Hope the Ozz-man is feeling better !
