Whoever heard of a finnicky eater dachsie? Well, the doc laid down the law yesterday. Madison is NOT to have any food with grains. No beef. No lamb. No chicken. He did offer me the Rx food that most vets carry by Hills. I couldn't stomach the price and plus Hills foods never impressed me. So I asked if I could look at alternatives. We had already been dabbling with new food. The one that interested me was California Natural with herring and sweetpotatoes. I got a smallish bag of that and started the Roo on it yesterday. Alas, she HATES it. (Mom! I'm NOT a C.A.T.! What are you doing trying to feed me kittycat fud?)
Well, she will eat it if she must, but it's done very grudingly. I thought this mommy had done the right thing but now the "daughter" thinks she's been given sea rations and doesn't like it one little bit.
And I thought weinerdogs ate EVERYTHING! Hummmph. So much for THAT theory.
Oh, my, Maddie! I can certainly tell you and Dolly were adopted siblings. Your sister wasn't called Dolly the Grub for nothing! I hope your mama and papa can find some fud for you that is tasty to your finicky taste buds... :2funny:
Oh Maddewoo.....that's okay sweetie.....I don't like herring either.....tell momma you want t-bone steak :hello2:
I'm sure Zeke and Madison must have a common ancestor. Zeke, too, is a finicky eater. On his morning feedings, he alternates between not eating a morsel, eating about half of it, or eating all of it. He really is unmotivated by food. I really would like to put 2 or 3 pounds on him as his frame could easily handle it, but he simply won't eat enough to do that.
Of course, Zora balances that out by eating anything as quickly as she can. She's pretty much on a perpetual diet. Hard to believe that such a dainty girl can turn into a complete slob when food is introduced.
David C Patches has 1 & 1/2 pounds the vet says she needs to get rid of so where can we send it to for your fincky girl.
Papbouv
Penny says she will come help Madison eat her food!! Penny is on a prescription Royal Canin food and doesn't seem to mind it at all. She will eat anything!
Maybe you should try a food with salmon in it?? :dontknow: Porky didn't care for the herring food either, but loved the salmon. I have no idea why. We found out that the venison and rice food he's on works pretty well for us so we don't want to spend all the cash for food with Salmon in it.
