Dis is Porky Pie. Boy did we hab a busy day today. Well, mama and daddy did, I was stuck in my cwate for most of da day! :cussing: Mama had to be at work at 5 am again!! :crazyeyes: Den daddy came home and was stomping around doing somefing loud. Den, he took me for a loooong walk. After da walk he went to pick up mama at werk. Den....dey bof came home gab me my bweakfast and took off again! :doah:
Dis time dey went to wook at a farmhouse in da countwy. Dey were gone for a loooong time. Wonder wat dat means? :thinik: When dey finawy came home....dey had to eat some lunch and let me out. Den....dey left AGAIN! :rolleyes: To wook at anodder house.
Dey came home at suppertime abter gallabanting around. I got to go on anodder walk and dey ate some supper and made some telephone calls. Den da scawy lady came to our house and telled dem some weird stuff I couldn't understand. Den mama and daddy were smiling and let her out. As soon as she left dey said dese words, "boxes" and "tape". I know wat dat means....we're moving to da farm!!! :meme: :hello2: Da onwy bad fing is....it doesn't hab da net, so I can't write my messages to you guys till we get dat all set up. :doah: And.....wez gotta get moved out by next wednesday!!! :crazyeyes:
So...mama is going to pack all day tomorrow until she goes to werk in da ebening. Den wednesday she is going out of town. Den tursday, more packing. And fwiday is cweaning/day. Mama sez its a good fing cause da wandword agweed to mutuawy bweak da lease so dey can hab da deposit bac for dis pwace when we go. I guess dats good.
MAJOR BONUS: Peter our cat, is coming back to live with us!!! We have really missed him while he lived on our friend's farm. I'm so excited for my bestest kitty fwiend to be coming back. Iffen we can get him to come to us. He's gotten pwetty wild out dere.

Thanks. We're actually not 100% sure that Petey is even still alive out there. I really hope he is. If not, there are some other kitties out where we are moving, maybe we'll get lucky and have one adopt us. Boy have I missed a lot being lazy and tired and staying in bed when I get home from work! Great news! Suck to have to be moving so fast though. Does the new place have a basement? Is it bigger? Hopefully it won't take long for the internet to get hooked up. So exciting. Look at it this way too, you guys are going to be so busy you will not have time to get all mad about the game!! And Porkey should have fun sniffing out his new place!!

Congrats on the new place. How did you manage to get out of the lease? I totally agree that you need a basement. In 1975, the Omaha tornado missed our house by only 50 feet or so. The home behind us was destroyed, but we only had two holes in the roof from their two by fours crashing through. I would never live in Nebraska without a basement. Is the new place nice? Does it have a fence for PorkyPie? Is it quiet? Do you have neighbors or are you isolated? Details, PLEASE!
I hope you find Petey, and soon! BEFORE it gets really cold. Since he was a house cat before, he will probably take to being a house cat again.
To answer your questions.....
No, our new house does not have a basement. However, it has a very large, and safe storm cellar which is deemed to be spider and rodent free!! :meme: That's a big plus. It is a concrete enforced hole in the ground, complete with a locking door, radio, falshlights, blankets, canned foods, and anything else you might ever need if you had to be down there for a while. It even has a little portable tv.
Yes, it has a yard for Porky Pie to play in which is fully fenced in. So..that's pretty exciting. In the summertime, he is still going to have to be on a leash as there are some snakes in the area. Mostly harmless gartner sankes though. Also, we can add rock around the perimeter of the yard to keep the snakes from crossing over into our yard. Cause they don't like sharp rocks on their bellies. We are trying to think of other ways to snake proof our yard. Guinnea hens come to mind, although I'm not sure Porky would enjoy that.
Yes, we have neighbors. They live about 100 yards away from us and are very nice! They farm the land where we will be living. We share access to the barn and storm cellar. We were told by our landlord that they need help adjusting to farm life as they moved here from a city in Colorado. So...we have the potential to make some really good friends here. They will pretty much keep to themselves and since my hubby and i aren't completely terrified of snakes we could be really helpful to them. :wink:
And, no its not bigger. It is smaller but has a larger kitchen and lots of storage space. We are going to get rid of some things but it is going to the children's home in Torrington Wyoming. So...it will feel good to help them out. Also some of my books are going to be donated to the library in town since they need some more anyway.
So..it should be a good thing.
There is also a shop out there where my hubby can work on cars and we can store any stuff that doesn't fit in the house, till we find a way to fit it in. The outside of the place is pretty rough looking. But, the landlord said we could paint it and fix up the yard to our liking. So...that will be kind of neat. It will feel more like home. Also, I am going to be making some curtains. So...I've got some projects to keep me bussy through the winter. I'm hoping our neighbors will let us help them with the farm chores. I love animals so that would be great!
And last but not least, it is very quiet and we have a great view from our living room window. I am really excited to be moving, but wish it didn't have to be so fast. :grin:
Thanks for the questions and concerns. No word yet on Peter, the guy that lives out there is still looking, there are lots of hiding places in the barn and shops at his farm. We know Pete is out there because the food is gone every morning and the guy keeps seeing him running in the trees, but he can't catch him. I think Peter is really happy out there to be honest. He always liked it best outside and he survived a huge blizzard last year so...he should be just fine in the winter.
