Blusky&Manny here: Yesterday our Momma Kelly&Gamma Sara went to our Aunty Kim's&Unca Nates house in the afternoon and before they came home last night Momma Kelly was outside wif Aunty Kim&Unca Nate and Kim's son Mackenzie and heard a funny noise above them and looked up and seen a green conure. Well when Mackenzie went to go in the house to get a cage to try and catch it the bird flew down to his shoulder and Unca Nate was able to get it and put it in the cage after Mackenzie got it.After catching it Gamma Sara and Momma Kelly left and then Momma Kelly told Gamma Sara that she thinks she seen a lost pet picture in a grocery store and sure enough it was about the bird.Momma Kelly took the picture back to Aunty Kim's and they called about the bird and to make a long story short it was the bird in the picture Momma Kelly seen.Mackenzie got a $75.00 reward. One more thing it rained and rained last night and the little bird would have been out in it. :apls:
That is excellent news :thumb: Great job !
Wow, a miracle!!!
:headbang: Wow...that is wonderful!!!! You save the conure....Great Job!!! :thumb:
Great eyes!! I'm so glad the little bird was found safe! :apls: And $75.00 that's a pretty cool reward!
That's great! It's amazing how tame they are when they are first let out in the wild.
About 20 years ago, I was working my summers at Bethesda Naval Hospital. They have a 20 story tower that I used to work in. On the 18th floor (or "deck" as we would call it), there was an observation deck. One morning, an African Grey Parrot landed on the observation deck and just perched there. I knew that these kinds of birds were NOT native to the D.C. area. It just remained perched all day.
Finally, the lowest ranking enlisted man in the command rigged up a rabbit trap consisting of a ruler and a mail basket to catch the bird along with some birdseed. The other personnel laughed "Leave it to Salyers to try to catch a bird with a rabbit trap". But, it worked! When the bird went down to eat, he caught it. Later he found it was lost from a nearby home and got a $200 reward for returning it...so he got the last laugh on everyone else!
That is an incredible story Kelly! Good for you! It was really a miracle that little bird found it's way home and flew right down to McKenzie. Great story. :thumb:
