Touched base with Alex's vet this morning to let them know what happened, and what I should be watching for. They said that as long as Alex isn't throwing up any blood and there's no blood in his poop, he is probably OK. I am almost 100% sure we caught him eating the D-Con right away and got him throwing up till there was nothing left, within ten minutes. My dogs are usually not out of my sight very long without me wondering where they are. We were at the cabin where its relatively safe for the dogs, we just never suspected that there would be D-Con in my dad's shop. We've learned our lesson and now will be more aware and careful, thankfully the consequences weren't tragic. Alex is back to his old self.
Someone asked me how I got the peroxide down his throat. Well, I sort of straddled him so he couldn't back up and I pried his mouth open and poured the peroxide in. Then I held his snout up so I was sure the peroxide went down his throat. Within a couple of minutes, he threw up A LOT til we didn't see anymore turquoise coloring from the D-Con. Poor Willy got a dose of peroxide just in case, but as it turns out, he had not gotten into the D-Con.
Glad to hear everything is well with the boys! :thumb: That must have been so scary!
Boy sure glad the vet also said everything was OK bet that was a weight off your shoulders too bad it cannot reverse the extra gray hair you probably got when you found out what he was eating. Perpetual 2 year old kids are what the Fur Kids are just stuck in two year old mode stick everything in their mouths + eat it too.You just have to be on your toes all of the time & have eyes in the back of your head to keep up with them & they are so darn fast too.
Sure glad everything worked out as well as it did thanks for the update was worried about your fur kid.

I must say that I was very, very impressed with how hydrogen peroxide worked so quickly. I am going to keep it on hand in case something bad gets ingested in the future.
Sounds like his guardian dachsie angels were right on the ball with this.
Whew! So glad he's ok - that's so scary!
Whew! So glad the little stinker is doing well!
Ha! In our monthly Mobilehome Park Magazine, they just listed the many uses for Hydrogen Peroxide. Add tossing it down the gullet to promote barfing. GOOD JOB gettin' it down, Patty.
Alex, take 'er easy now, y'hear?
glad he is doing ok..... way to go mom with the quick thinking !!!
Good to know another use for peroxide. I wish I'd known that a year ago tonight when Clifford gorged himself on Trader Joe's chocolate covered fruit. I still have a large red stain on my carpet...
I am so glad he is doing ok! I know how frightening it is when they eat things they aren't supposed to. Believe me!1
