I called Dr Cindy this morning to see how Sam was doing and she said he had stopped vomiting but still had diarrhea. When I went to pick him and Eddie up he just lay in his carrier screaming every time he was touched. Dr Cindy said he had started to bite anyone who touched him and screamed She also told me that he hadn't urinated at all even with the fluids they had given him. So I took the boys home hoping that Sam would do better once he was in familiar surroundings. But when we got home he had a major seizure and didn't even know me. So I called Dr Cindy up and took him back and we sent him on to the bridge. It was so hard to see him suffer like that. And when I told Dr Cindy about the seizure she said he had probably been suffering small strokes all along and may have had one last night. She told me he could walk yesterday, but this morning he couldn't even hold his head up.
Poor Eddie he misses Sam terribly and is now the most velcro dog ever. Thank you everyone for the rays and prayers. Sam lived a good life and now he is pain aand suffering free.
Marcia, I am just getting caught up and read about Sam. Our hearts are saddened by Sam's going to the bridge but know that he is now pain free and playing with all the doxie angels that have gone to the Rainbow Bridge. Sam will always be in your heart and he knew how much you and Eddie loved him. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. Hugs to you and Eddie --- With loving thoughts, Dee, Dave, Sarge & Looie.
Oh Marcia - I am so sorry, but you are so right - Sam is at the Bridge running around like a youngster. You gave him the final gift of love. I know you and Eddie are hurting badly - we all are, tears are running down my face. I had a feeling that it was his time, but was so hoping he would bounce back. When you are ready, we would love to hear your favortie stories of your baby. We are here for you, please remember that.
Godspeed sweet Sammie.....
Oh, Marcia, I am sooo very sorry to hear about Sam.... :comfort: My heart is with you at this time.... Sending love, hugs, prayers, rays, puppy kisses and anything we can your way.... I will pray for all of you... GodSpeed little Sam, you will be greatly missed.... With love & sympathy~ Tara & EmmyLou :comfort:
We are so, so sorry to hear about Sam's passing. We know exactly what you are going through right now, having been down this road with Max last year and Rudy the year before. Unfortunately, when the old age rollercoaster ride comes to an end, it seldom is an easy ending. You need to focus more on the nearly 16 years of happiness that he gave you than the last few days of his life...to focus more about how he lived and not necessarily how he passed.
Please take some solace that Sam will have a lot of great company up at the Bridge. You and Eddie will be in our thoughts and prayers.
I am so sorry that Sam has left us, but I know you did the most loving thing to free him from pain. He and Miss Gretl can sympathize over Eddie together at the Bridge! Cheers, Sam - may you find many friends at the Bridge...
Sorry to hear this RIP little guy.
He had 16 years of a great life-you can be very proud of that. Not many doxie ever get that. He was loved, pamperd, good food and bed--what more could a little guy want.
I am heartbroken to read that Sam has passed away. :sad7:
I am glad he did not have to sufer long and is over the bridge living a pain free life.
Many hugs to you during this tough time. :comfort:

We are sorry for your loss.
Marcia, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Sam. You did the loving thing in letting him go and not letting him suffer anymore. As hard as is it, there is a good feeling in knowing he is not in pain anymore, but happy and free. Sam had a good life with you, Marcia. As much as they give to our lives, we also enhance theirs with our love and care. Give Eddie a big hug for me, and consider yourself hugged as well.
Marcia,
My heart dropped when I saw your post. I am so sorry for your loss. Sam lived a long and happy life with you and Eddie, and I am sure he is watching over you both. Hugs to you and snuggles to Eddie during this difficult time. :comfort:

So sorry to hear of your loss. Even though we think we are prepared for what we know is inevitable, we never are. Sam led a long, good life. Other doxies should be so lucky as to have lived long and well with you to love and cherish him. He'll be waiting for you at the "bridge". Stay Strong!
I am so sorry to hear this news. It is never good. We are dreading the day that something happens to Mimi. And since we found out that she is a lot older than we thought we are on eggshells waiting. I will be praying for you all to help get you through this difficult time.
Mimi, Tuttle and their Human Mom
