Kevin just brought Poldie home from the vet's office. They x-rayed his back and hip, the back looked really good and they couldn't find anything seriously wrong with the hip. His hip "popped" a bit when they rotated it, but on the whole seemed to be in the socket where it belongs.
Poldie was squirrelly while at the vet. He has never been a cooperative patient and today was no exception. He clamped his tail down so tight that they couldn't take his temp, he wriggled and squirmed during exam and x-rays, he nipped at Dr--a frustrated warning nip. Leopold didn't break skin and I doubt he would try to hurt Dr, he was just determined to be let alone.
Also his lungs are a little worse than last time, although they are still mostly OK and they say he is doing very well with the emphysema. That explains this weekend's coughing. The painting and sanding probably didn't help at all. He seems a bit better now than he was a few days ago, however. The doc said to keep doing what we are doing, because he is breathing pretty well.
As far as why his leg hurts--that remains a mystery. Could be arthritis acting up. He might have dislocated his hip as he sometimes does. Even if the hip pops back into place on it's own, he'll be sore for a few days afterwards. He might have pulled a muscle or been bruised. I reminded Kev that Boone launched himself off the recliner and landed on Poldie over the weekend and Poldie cried out. The limping didn't start until a day or two later, but sometimes these things hurt worse the next day. The doctor said that might have done it.
Poldie is on rimadyl for the next few days. Please keep the rays and prayers coming!
Sending rays Poldie's way. Like I said in a separate post, Poldie seems to have this very quiet stubborness to him (very much like Max) that allows him to get through these times. He'll be just fine and back to his semi-ornery self in no time.
