Title: A seven minute update!!
Post by: Doxherding Karen on August 22, 2007, 10:23:55 AM
Well, I'm back from Chattanooga and I have seven minutes left on the library computer to bring you all up to date. . .

First of all, I had a great trip.  D'Niel is doing very well, and making progress.  He still had a long time left in Chattanooga, but the journey is more important than hurrying to the destination.

Hey, the computer gods just gave me more time!  Now I have 20 minutes!  What a deal!  What a country!!

As for a film crew, I used my digital camera to film Roscoe in the front seat, who doesn't really like windshield wipers!  Stay tuned for a youtube extravaganza!

Now you may wonder why I am at the library, rather than at home using my beloved Apple Mac mini and 24 inch flat screen cinema monitor.  That's because when I arrived home Monday night at 8:45 p.m. I found that my house had been broken in to, ransacked, and robbed!  What an emotional roller coaster!  I went from the thrill of victory to the agony of defeat, only I didn't have to go flying off the ski jump and crash.

My computer, my jewelry, my silver and my power tools are all gone.  There may be more missing, but the inside of my house looks like Huricane Dean paid a visit, so as I spend the next week sifting through things and realize something else is missing, I will add it to the list.  Oh, and my new loveseat has a tear in the fabric!

But, in the end, it's only stuff, and my homeowners insurance will help with recovery.  My new Apple MacBook is already ordered and on its way.  My dachshunds are all doing great, even poor Roscoe The Handsome One, who developed a Tennessee hematoma on his right ear and is currently at the vet's getting it drained.  He seems to have had an encounter with something, but there's no wound and no ear infection.  I'm picking him up at 6:00 p.m.

So I will bring you all up to speed on all the goings on, but I gotta go now, 'cause there's a bunch of steely-eyed Bawlamer hons just waitin' for their turn on the computer and I've only got 2 minutes left, and if I'm still in this chair when my time is up, I'm dead meat!

Take care and stay tuned!

Karen

Yikes!!! What a homecoming.  Did they by any chance also clear the(ir) stuff out of the garage?

Good to see you made it home safely.

Oh no Karen, that really sucks....      :cussing:    Your welcome home definately topped mine when I got home from Seattle...  I am soo sorry this happened....  Oh, man!!!!   Don't people know, it is just wrong to mess with a woman's power tools!!!  lol  My kids or hubby even go near mine and I freak out...  Hubby has his own, so they can all use them... lol   I hope you can find out who did this to you...  They deserve to be "Dox-a-nated"!!!!   Go get 'em, boys!!!!!!     *hugs*  ~Tara & Pwincess Emmy

Karen,

Great news about D'Niel, and sorry about your home.  Also sorry to say, I suspect the same culprits as the others on othe board.

Bummer!  I would also be highly suspect of the people whose stuff was in my garage...............Its just too much of a coincidence.

Oh no!  That is awful that you had to come home to that.  It's always a bit stressful to come home from being on vacation, and to have to come home to your house being burglarized....that just plain stinks!  I'm sorry that happened to you.

Rays to Roscoe The Handsome One....I hope his ear is doing better! :bandaid:

Sorry to hear about the house, it may be "just stuff," but it was your stuff.  I agree with everyone else as to who the culprits might be.

I'm probably stating the obvious, but I'd change locks, get deadbolts, and even locks for your ground-floor windows.

I don't know how big your city/town is, but maybe you could talk the police into doing some extra cruising in your neighborhood for a while.  Long story - but when I got a threatening letter mailed to my house, the police patrolled our neighborhood for a few days.

Hope Roscoe's ear is getting better!

Glad to hear your trip went well and you arrived home safely...we're not so glad to hear about your homecoming.

Was the entry forced?   Was any of your "tenants" belongings disturbed?  Did your neighbors see/hear anything?  Were there other crimes/break-ins in the neighborhood?   I'd hate to point the finger without evidence, and I would hate to believe that family would do (or tacitly condone) this sort of thing, to each other.

It would seem that the house was "cased",  i.e., someone knew that you were away, because that kind of ransacking takes a lot of time.   Knowing that there are some not-so-nice neighborhoods in close proximity to where you live, this could have simply been a crime of opportunity.   I'd keep an eye on eBay and Craigslist to see if some of these items start turning up.

Glad you had a nice time while you were away sorry about what happened when you came home unfortualy I agree with the others about who did it. I have heard the police do not do finger printing on home invasions. Hope things get back half way normal soon I still would put the herd in a escape proof area or be out with them for a long time to come if your home was broken into would not put it past them to steal your Fur Kids too. Please be careful.
Hugs

I'm glad you're back home safe.  D'niel's progress sounds awesome.  You're a GOOD MOM!  I hate to chime in with my suspicions, but it do sound suspicious who might have broken in.  Did they touch the stuff in the garage?  Hmmmm.  So sorry you've had to deal with this.  You are one courageous lady.  You press on and keep the faith, y'hear?  You ROCK!
